I know this is geared a little more towards younger kids, but if anyone out there is looking for a great place to have a birthday party for youngsters, there is a place in Valrico called the "Red Barn Petting Farm" at 4205 E Bloomingdale Avenue. I just had my 3yr old daughter's party there and it was AWESOME. The kids had a blast from start to finish. It is a small town petting zoo in a convenient location. They had goats, llamas, cows, donkeys, hens, roosters, turkeys, peacocks..just about everything you can imagine. Darlene, the owner and "host" puts on her cowgirl hat and takes them on a hay ride so they can feed the cows without getting too close. Then they get to feed and interact with all the other animals while petting and learing about them all. All of the animals are certified by a vet to be free of E.CHOLI - very important to me, and there are wash stations with soap and water everywhere. It was clean and tidy. There is even a huge playground with very nice equipment - fun for any age. Lots of shade trees and tons of picnic tables. Really a nice setup - can't say enough nice things about it. We really enjoyed it and our daughter hasn't stopped talking about how much she loved her party. Since she just turned 3, it was really her first true birthday party with friends that she'll remember. I hope that someone reads this referral and tries it out - you will be pleased.
