Birthday Dinner - Overland Park,KS

I was curious if anyone had any good suggestions on where to eat. I am going out for my birthday, but we don't want to spend a fortune. Therefore entrees in the 12 dollar range. Does anyone have any suggestions. Places can be anywhere in the kansas city area. I am just wanting somewhere new, not the usual chilis or olive garden, etc.

and I am not going out til next sat so please give suggestions. I have had two friends of mine tell me that Brio Tuscan Grille at the plaza is both..considering that option unless you all have some other better ideas!

What can I do next?

I could suggest dozens of locally owned places, but not sure what your tastes are. Try the web sites: UrbanSpoon and Open Table. On both of those, click on the Kansas City links, and they will give you lots of restaurant suggestions. They even show you what the price range is and have links to each of the restaurant's web sites and menus. I have used Open Table for years for both KC and when I travel. It has been a source of many delicious dinners. I am just learning to use the US site, so not as good at it yet. Happy Birthday and Bon Appetite!!

I have heard Cheddar's is awesome, and you get a lot for the money! You can look at their menu online. I just googled Cheddar's and found the one in Overland Park. The seem pretty reasonable! Hope this is not too late!!!!

Cheddars!!! Yummmmm!!

Brio is good! I also suggest Blanc Burgers and Bottles...it is one of my absolute favorite restaurants!!! It is sort of upscale burgers and the entrees run anywhere from $10-15. They only use all local ingredients and have a huge beer list. It's a fun atmosphere and seriously, the food is awesome!

Another favorite of mine is Blue Koi. They have a location on 39th and 103rd and Mission (roughly...Mission Farms). It is sort of upscale Chinese food but they honestly have the best dumplings I have EVER put in my mouth, and I'm not overly crazy about dumplings in general. They also have good entrees and fun drinks called bubble tea (non alcoholic).

Grand Street Cafe (off the plaza) and Cafe Trio on Main are also very tasty places. Their meals are reasonable. Cafe Trio just opened this new location about a year ago and it has a great patio overlooking some of the plaza, plus they both have great wine lists!

Lastly, Spin Pizza is fabulous! You can share a pizza and salad and get some wine (or bring your own for a small corking fee), plus they have some yummy apps and even have gelato for dessert. There are many locations across the metro.

I'm sure they all have websites so check 'em out...these are just a few of my favorite local places.

Oh...and b/c you'll probably need some ice cream ;)...check out Murray's in Westport if you're near there b/c it is to DIE FOR! Seriously, it's all homemade and is super awesome. She closes in November for the winter so get there soon!

You could try Cheddars. They are right by Oak Park Mall, in the parking lot. They just opened maybe a year ago, and the decor is very pleasant, and the entrees usually run around 8 dollars or a little more. We have been a few times and the food is good and service is excellent each time we have gone there. Hope you have a happy birthday!!

Cheddars is my favorite place to eat at 95th & Quivera in the mall parking lot. Always good food, great service, don't worry there is always a line out the door but they get you seated pretty quick..usually less than 15 minutes.

54th Street and Texas Roadhouse are also 2 other restaurants we like to eat at.

For a cool experience type place go to Hibachi at the plaza. Go at lunchtime and can get meals under 15.00. A really neat experience watching the chef make your food right at your table.

If you want BBQ, Odens BBQ is really reasonable and has great food and service. It is located in Belton. A lot of meal options under 12.00 and you get a free cup of ice cream with your meal.
