I had a great recipe for a chocolate cake that I can't find. I would love to get some good ideas for my son's 1st birthday. No box cakes please, it's a big day!!!

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

I used the recipe Debbie E. posted and it was amazing! And so easy. I literally made a cake in 20 minutes. Thanks so much!

Here's a recipe for a chocolate cake a friend sent me. I haven't tried it, but she swears it is the moistest, best cake she's ever eaten.

Good luck!

The Best Chocolate Cake

2 C. flour
2 C. sugar
2 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. salt
1/2 C. cocoa
1 C. milk
2 eggs
2 tsp. vanilla
1 C. vegetable oil
1 C. hot water

Preheat oven to 350°

Mix ingredients in order listed, except the hot water. When well mixed, slowly add the hot water. Pour into pan/s that have been sprayed with pan spray.

Bake until toothpick comes out clean. (about 40-45 minutes for a 13X9 pan)

After cake cools, frost as you wish. Chilling the cake in the fridge makes the cake taste even better.

This batter will be a liquid that turns into the moistest cake you have ever eaten.

You can add almond extract for a different taste or use hot coffee instead of water to make it mocha.

Hi M.,

Save yourself the work.....we ordered our daughter's first birthday cake from The Cakery in North Aurora, it was AWESOME and super cute! We got so many compliments on how great the cake was. Many people in the family have used them for wedding cakes and other special occassions. They are also just nice people to deal with.

Happy 1st Birthday to your little one!

Hi M.
Cake baking is my hobby - I make them for my friends and family. For my kids's 1st - I made a cake shaped like the number 1 - I also make cakes for other people - if you're interested in ordering one. Here are the pictures of my cakes: www.yvettescakes.shutterfly.com - click on the small cake picture under "cake pictures-samples" and you'll see the number 1 cakes....
