Ortho-tricylene and Tri-Sprintec (the generic of ortho) work. They are both reasonably priced if you have no or bad insurance. Yaz and Yazmin are very expensive and work extremely well. I have been on all of them and don't really think there are side-effects. I also use pro-active once a day and that in combo with the birth control really got my skin under control. I have to say that on Yazmin though, I practically never got a breakout and I get an occasional one with Tri-Sprintec. But one is 8 dollars a month and the other is 60.

I was on Yasmin for 5 years, and it was AWESOME. I never had terrible acne, but my skin looked fantastic with it, I didn't gain weight, my periods were short and easy to deal with. I would take it again if I could, but my OB/GYN stopped prescribing it due to all of the health risks and long-term issues associated with it. I even asked a different GYN about it, and she also had stopped prescribing it for her patients. I'm not on BC now, but I hope someday I can find something that's just as good.

Ortho Tri-cyclen and Ortho Cyclen have been found through scientific studies to help reduce acne.

My stepdaughter used both at different times and they helped her tremendously!! She went from moderate/severe acne to having perfectly beautiful skin!

From what I understand, pretty much all bc pills (except for mini pill and depo, which are progesterone-only versions) help with acne. I take LoEstrin 24 Fe and my acne has gone almost totally away (which I am so incredibly thrilled about!!)
