Bikini Waxing

I will NEVER do this again at home myself! I tried Sally's bikini wax & the area right by my upper inner thigh bruised immediately after I pulled the strip off. I stopped the waxing. What did I do wrong? Why would I bruise? Arghhh!

What can I do next?

I always do myself since my daughter was born, because I stopped working and it didn't fit into the budget. I have had no luck with the waxes that you can buy at wal-mart or target. I do not like the sugar waxes or pre-waxed strips at all. I go to Sally's beauty supply and buy a can of beeswax, muslim strips and sticks. It probably costs less than half however than having it done, especially after tipping. Have you had waxing done before by someone? I think it's important because you have to see the technique.

Hi K.!

That is why I let the professionals handle this for me! I get this done every 6 weeks (4 in the summer at times) and have done this for 6 years!! I love it and wouldn't do it any other way!

Let me know if you want her name and number. She is good and only cost $30.00. You leave there clean as a whistle (I leave a landing pad, LOL!) and feeling awesome! It all depends too on your skin sensitivity. I do tan and am fairly dark, so I have never had any issues about bruising.

Good Luck!

Yes, waxing is not easy, especially on yourself. You have to use the correct amount of wax and make sure is not too hot. Also, like the other mom says, you have to pull your skin tight at the same time you pull the strip with the other hand. Try Moujan cold wax. You will need to use it warm, but it is water soluble, so if you spill it on you or on the floor it comes off with water. I was not able to get at Sally the last time, might be out of it. Ulta has it!
Do it at home is much cheaper, but it takes time to learn how to do it. If you don`t feel comfortable, go to a salon, especially if it is just for the summer months.
Good luck!

Hi,
You have to make sure that you have applied the right amount of wax (fairly thin) and pull your skin tight! If your shin pulls with the wax strip even a little it will pull way too slow and bruise, you could even rip your skin!

I wax myself every couple of months and don't have issues anymore but it may help to have it done professionally the first time and watch their technique.

Good Luck!
