Bike Seats

My son is turning one in a few days. We are looking for a child bike seat that will fit on a beach cruiser. We'd prefer one that sits between the handle bars and the rider? Does any one have any ideas? Has any one used the WeeRide Kangaroo?

What can I do next?

I've never used it, but I saw one in the one step ahead catalogue (onestepahead.com) and their products in general are usually pretty good.

Hi there,
I have a beach cruiser too, and I looked far and wide to find a seat for the front. They don't make em, and no one will rig one for you either. It is not a good idea to put your precious baby on something "rigged." My frame is curvy and the baby is too small to sit in one of those baskets that hang from the handlebars. The only option, I promise, is to get a seat that goes behind yours, just a normal boring one, clamped to the pole where your seat is. You may think now that you want the baby in front of you, but you will either have to get a new bike or part with that fantasy. I will tell you, I love love love my cruiser with the normal seat in the back and so does my daughter. Don't worry.

I don't have one yet either, but we are looking at getting a bobike...its a seat that does sit between you and handlebars so baby is up front. you can check out www.bobike.nl for official site, but to buy in US go to www.onestepahead.com

good luck!

Hi there -

I asked my husband if that's the one we have and he thinks so. And we love it. It's great. We feel so much better about having him in front. And he really has a good time. We got him a helmet and they have a blast. I think my son was around one when we got it. My husband bought it online.

Hope that helps.

best wishes,

R.

I LOVE the WeeRide Kangaroo seat (about $50 at Amazon.com). It doesn't affect my steering or pedaling at all, i could ride for hours with it! Plus, i can focus on the road in front and not have to constantly look behind me to check on my kiddo. And it fits perfectly on my beach cruiser. The straps take some getting used to but after a few tries it's no big deal.

Get the one that goes on the back of the bike-- was urged against the "front seat" style by the people at the bike shop, it makes it harder to steer properly and can impede your vision. I wouldn't suggest those pull behind carts either. We got a seat from the bike shop in belmont shore and love it! It pulls off super easy for the times we get away without the baby.

we got weeRide and love it. Not sure if it will fit on a beach cruiser??? Anywyay, it's GREAT. Very safe and fun.
