Big Deal Being Made About Tatoo Barbie!

I just don't know why everyone is making a big fuss over the neck tatooed Barbie...she has a skull tshirt and leopard tight jeans. So what...have you seen the way some little girls go to school these day? I am buying one for the collector value..but if I had a daughter I would buy it for her! Better then the pregnant Midge...I think. Would you buy one for your child?

What can I do next?

I don't see what the big deal is. I wonder how many moms that say they would never buy the doll lets their children use temporary tattoos. Those things are everywhere

Well, I don't have a daughter, but I just have to wonder, aside from the collectors, who really *wants* them?

Okay, I don't usually get riled up about this sort of stuff, and although I'm hardly "riled" I do think a neck tattoo is somewhat in bad taste. I'll probably get flogged for this, but a neck tattoo has a stereotype of being somewhat "hoodish" in my opinion. If the tattoo were in a different place I don't think I'd have an issue.

I TOTALLY agree with Manda F. on this one! Barbie really does give young girls an entirely unrealistic example of what women are supposed to look like. Thank goodness my daughter prefers her American Girl dolls to Barbie any day! Barbie was a poor 'role model' before; the visible tattoos just make it worse. Hopefully Mattel will market this one exclusively for the older Barbie fans....No way would I purchase this doll for my daughter!

Meh. Tattoo Barbie has been around for several years, at least. She comes with a temporary tattoo gun and temporary tattoos. I guess this latest one is a collector's item, but there HAS been a tattoo Barbie around, so this isn't really news. My kids have Tattoo Barbie, among several others.

I think the idea that Barbie teaches little girls a poor body image is laughable. Hello, has anyone turned on the TV or watched a movie lately? Read a fashion magazine? *eyeroll* Puh-leeze. Barbie is a toy. Angelina Jolie is real. Tell me which one makes you feel worse about yourself when you look at her! LOL

I think a neck tattooed barbie is inappropriate. why put it on the neck , why not the arm or the upper back? Not to mention she's dressed as an extra in "Shaft". I also think the " princess charm school" barbie is bad. Why aren't there any Engineering school barbies? Girls need to be encouraged in science and math.

As stated in the article, it's meant to be a collector item for adults, not for regular little girls to play with - and only a limited number are going to be made, again, because it's a collector's item, so they may be hard to come by.

I don't really care about tattoos - considering I have one, and am considering more, it would be hypocritical of me to slam a doll that happened to sport tatttoos. I am just not much of a fan of Barbie in general. I think the Bratz dolls and Monster High dolls are worse than Barbie - Barbie is downright wholesome compared to them. In the end, a girl's self-image really needs to come from home and what she is taught by her parents - not some child's toy.

Like others have stated, there are bigger things in this world to get worked up about.
