Best Shopping Cart Cover?

What is the best shopping cart cover out there? I've seen several different ones and am not sure which one I should get. I have an almost 5 month old who is working on sitting up. I'd like to be able to plop him in the shopping cart seat when I shop. I want one that is easy to put in... especially one handed! I'd love to hear any reviews!

I use the Eddie Bauer cart cover and I love it. It covers the entire front part of the cart. My mom bought me this from Target.

Cleanshopper.com. It has the best ones out there. I am a germ-phobe and they have the ones that cover the entire front section of the cart, as well as, disposable ones. Its a really good website for other "cleanliness" items too!!

We have one from CleanShopper.com and we love it. It covers the entire seat and all sides. It has pockets on the inside for toys. And it has two straps on the top where you can clip on toys (with linkadoos, etc.) so the baby can't throw them on the floor. It comes with a bag and it machine washable. It also has a seat belt. The other thing I love is that it seems so comfortable. The material is pretty thick and it also protects her from the cold metal of the cart (particularly a concern when she wears shorts in the summer and the cart has been in an air-conditioned building all day or in the winter when the cart has been outside). I don't consider myself a germaphobe, but grocery store carts can get very dirty. Produce and meat can carry some very dangerous bacteria. I think cart covers are a fantastic invention - just be sure to wash it regularly, otherwise it won't do much for germ protection. :)

All my best!

We have the Floppy Seat Cover and it works GREAT! It covers all surface areas on the front, sides, and back of seat, which is great for when they are still mouthing and touching every imaginable surface. While it is a lot of material, it does the trick and I just throw it in the trunk for easy access. It does convert into it's own bag for storage and space saving, but we use it so much, it doesn't seem worth the effort to close it up. We've been very happy with it.

Hi K.! I'm so excited to hear that you are in the market for a cart cover! They're wonderful! I have an 11 month old daughter, and we use one everytime we get in the cart or in a high chair at a restaurant. Can I tell you... she's never been sick! Of course, I put her in the church nursery for the first time, and she ended up with a horrible cold, but that's another story! I received mine as a gift, but I've also seen them at Babies R Us. They are so incredibly worth the time and effort to put it on! I would make sure you get one that covers the entire seating area on all sides. I've seen some that people have, and they only cover the seat and the "handle bar", which leaves the sides open for him to put his hands on and pick up germs. Good luck, and believe me, you're making a great investment!

K.,
I also have a Buggybag and I love it. My aunt bought it for me. Initially, I thought it was overkill to cover a cart, but I saw a news story on germs and so I thought that I probably should use it. If it saves me co-pays at the dr. for her and I it will be worth the trouble. It was much easier to use than I thought and it has pockets to put wipes, toys and extra pacifier. My daughter is 18th months old so we have been using it for over a year. There have been two times that she has had huge runny poopy diapers in the buggy bag. I was never more thankful for that thing than at those times! But it also got me thinking, if all the kids who sit in the carts have only one leaky, or runny poopy diapers a year, can you imagine the stuff in those carts! That is not even considering all the sickness and other stuff on them. You know the only time carts get washed is when they get rained on! Our kids are exposed to may germs everyday to help build their immunity, but I think covering the shopping cart is a smart thing to do. The Buggybag was worth every penny, and I often thank my aunt for buying it. Buggybag also has a cover that goes in restaurant high chairs, and I bought one and love it too. I hope you find one you like! R.'

Hi K.,
One of my best friends makes/sells them. Her website is www.cartalongbaby.com, and she lives in the Columbus area. She made a pattern based on one she received as a gift, but then added what a parent would want to make it even better. They are very easy to use, and she has sooo many designs to choose from. They cover the entire seat, and they are also fluffy enough that you can use them even with a baby that can't quite sit up on his/her own yet. They are great! Check them out! =)

Hi, K.!

I ordered mine from www.chubbyseats.com, and I absolutely LOVE it! I have 2 big boys that outgrew the infant carrier quick, but were unable to sit up in a shopping cart. This saved me! It is sooooo "chubby" and quilted and has a pillow and seatbelts and toy holders....it's great! You can even lay your baby lengthwise in there to nap while you shop! Check out the page that says "Happy chubby seat babies" and there are a ton of pictures of happy babies! That's what sold me! And, you get to custom choose your fabrics.
Good luck!

Personally, I never worried about cart covers and such. I figure exposure to all types of germs helps build their immune systems. Also, if you are nursing, he is still getting antibodies from you. I did however, sometimes wipe down the cart a little with a wipe, especially for my daughter who used to put her mouth on the cart handle.

That said, you could probably get a cover from a thrift store or Craigslist. It's not the type of thing that would wear out.

Floppy seat. This one is great and it covers the whole shopping cart as well as a highchair in a restraunt. It is a little more expensive but well worth it. I got ours at a children's consignment shop for about half the price. Good Luck!!
