We have a non-local photographer coming to Dallas in Nov.
I've heard Shops at Legacy, Prairie Creek Park in Richardson are good places.
Any other nature scenes closer to Frisco?

Watters Creek in Allen has some nice areas (Bethany/75). We took our cheer pictures for the yearbook and program there in May. We have since taken many more pictures at Watters Creek. Check them out on Facebook.

I'm sorry I am not familiar with more places closer to Frisco

In response to taking pictures in Adriatica: I had my daughter and ten of her friends meet there this evening to take Prom pictures. The apparent owner of Adriatica's daughter came over and told us to leave or she would call the cops. Apparently you need a permit $50 to take pictures there. I asked her if there were any signs posted. She said they were having some made. I told her to call the police. She never did. One of the other parents told her if we had known that, we would have decided to buy a permit or go elsewhere. Not sure how allowing teenager to take 10 minutes worth of photos was hurting anyone. We stayed and took our pictures. I feel this only hurts Adriatica's place in our community. The city has had to help fund Adriatica. As a taxpayer, I'm not sure why they feel the need to charge us. Thanks for letting me vent.

As said before me, Adriatica in McKinney makes a great background. Town Lake Park in McKinney has a natural look with green, water and live animals. Villages of Allen, new shopping off Stacy Rd, is great during The Holidays, they have a large tree, a train, reindeer and more. Please note all my suggestions are for pics of the kids.

We've used Adriatica in Mckinney. It's a business complex with great textures. If you walk through the grass, it goes down to a creek, a rope ladder and tireswing.
I'll send you our slidesjpw to see if you'll message me with an email. They're gorgeous pics!!

I don't know about Frisco, but in Plano - downtown Plano - there is Haggard Park which is beautiful. It has a very nice Gazebo, little creek with a fountain, footbridge, and flowers depending on time of year. There are a lot of weddings there. It is on 15th street, just east of 75.

If you want to go a little south I would recommend the Cooper Aerobics Center - they have the most beautiful grounds! We had our wedding reception there and I had my bridal portraits done there - it is near Preston and Forest, south of LBJ. Actualy, they have a location in McKinney too at Craig Ranch, but I have no idea what it looks like - if its up to par with the original I would check it out!

Good luck!

What kind of photos are you taking? Is it a group (like a team) or kid/family/engagement photos that will be more personal? There are lots of empty wide-open spaces all over in Frisco that give a very rural feel. I've seen some great family and senior portrait shots using the natural background of a field, trees or barn with a barbed wire fence. Also, Warren Sports Complex (El Dorado and North County Rd.) has lots of great green areas, tree areas and the great little pond with fountain. There is also the park/green area near Stonebriar...in the new development area behind the Super Target shopping center. I hope this helps!! Let us know how they turn out! :)

Richardson
Prairie Creek Park-great waterfall!

Allen
Does anyone know where the abandoned railroad track trestle bridge in Allen is at? It is off Central and Exchange. You can actually park on the East side of the La Quinta parking lot and walk to it from there. You can't miss it.
Train Tracks in Allen-- Allen Station Park
The location of this event is set for an abandon railroad track trestle bridge. This bridge is covered with Graffiti and is nestle within a wooded area along a creek that also have a concrete "Dam" spillway. This environment should lend for some very unique natural images with a little bit of that "Train Track Grunge" look.

McKinney
-Victorian: The Tartan Thistle B&B in McKinney has an entry room and parlor with a heavy wood staircase, wrap around porch, and lovely wooded back garden. Some of the upstairs rooms are more Victorian than others...however not rustic in the sense of iron or barbed wire and wagon wheels
-http://www.heardmuseum.org/
-Town Lake Park is very fun for families but if you want to be on the bridge or around the water, you really need to get there early. The sun gets too high fast to use without too much backlight or sun lines across the face. However, if you are doing a bit later in the morning after 9, then the woods on the other side of the bridge by the rec center are great. There is a nature trail that I use a lot and a huge stretch of wooded area that lets in light. The lighting is magical through the trees about 1 1/2-2 hours after sunrise
-Downtown is great because it doesn't matter when the sun comes up down there, you can show up and there will be something you can use that has enough shady overhangs. There are lots of photographers down there though and it is getting a little tired with so much use.
-Adriatica is great as well. The developer doesn't own the tunnels or the grassy area in front of the building or the neat stone wall, so he can't control that with his fees. Natural/Architectural (Croatia, Europe) Theme, Outdoors, open to the public, southeast corner of Virginia Parkway & Stonebridge Drive.
- Finch Park is south of downtown McKinney and has basic landscape, big trees, and lots of open area. Finch Park in McKinney has some nice elements. It isn't my favorite, but it does have nice creek running through it. I have never used it in the morning so I can't make recommendations there and it depends on the sun location in May.
-Craig Ranch in McKinney has a neat little gazebo and pond at the main entrance in their subdivision. I haven't done anything there in a year or so and never in the morning, so you may want to check it out first. It is great for a little one because it is a small area and she can be contained, yet you still have the bridge and the water as a backdrop. You have to be very careful in your angles though as there are houses all around.
-McKinney Cotton Mill: Industrial theme, Indoors & Outdoors. This is an old industrial warehouse that has been converted into a reception hall.
-Railroad Tracks: Take East Louisiana Street east of McDonald (a.k.a. Highway 5). This is where is Grain Mill caught fire last year. There is another structure called the Flour Mill. It sits directly in front of old abandoned railroad tracks and right next to the Grain Mill. However, do not try to photograph inside the Flour Mill. 2 photographers (tenants) own exclusive rights to photograph inside there.
