I'm 7 weeks along with my second, and am battling terrible all-day sickness again. What are some things that worked for you?

What can I do next?

Hi H. -

Have you tried something sweet first thing in the morning? I found with my first that a bag of plain M&M's and a glass of applejuice worked wonders for my all day sickness. Find something that tastes good and stick with it. Good luck!

I nibbled constantly. Carried bags of carrots or pea pods everywhere with me at work and grazed all day at the beginning because I was nauseous all the time. I ate enough to never feel empty. I craved dairy too, so a spoonful of cottage cheese or premium vanilla ice cream helped too (like the cheese cubes, yum!) In the early morning, I had crackers in the bathroom while getting ready for work before breakfast.

Ginger-ale, saltines, and eating small amounts at a time. Good luck!

When my morning sickness got nasty, I drank lemonade or ginger ale and ate saltine crackers. If your morning sickness is unbearable, call your doctor.

I hope you feel better soon.

A nurse at my doctor's office suggested to suck on LemonHeads candy....the lemon flavor really helped me with the all-day "morning" sickness. :)

I'm currently 15 weeks with my second and up until the last couple of weeks I had the same problem. I noticed that the nausea came when I was hungry, so I just kept snacks nearby (crackers, cheese, whatever works for you) Also, I would suggest eating several smaller meals through out the day as opposed to just 3 big meals. Hope this helps!!

When I had my c-section the anesthesiologist (sp?) put an alcohol swab under my nose to releive imediate nausea. He said that he learned it from a study done on women with morning sickness and that the smell of rubbing alcohol relieved the nausea. It's worth a try.

See if your doctor will write you a prescription for Zofran. Its amazing. I was SO sick and after taking just a pill a day before I went to bed made all the difference.

I unfortuanatly had to resort to Zofran, which I'm still on even though I'm 29 weeks now. The upside of that was that I think I've had every remedy under the sun seggested to me, and while they didn't work for me, maybe they will for you.
There's the old stand by of saltines and ginger ale. Also dry toast. Keeping a steady stream of bland, dry food in your body most of the time seems to help some people.
I've also heard that taking vit B12 at night with a unisom (make sure it's doxylamine) can help ward it off for some women.
Preggo Pops, and Preggo Pop drops are sold at baby and maternity stores, and they work well for some people too.
My MIL suggested making tea out of ginger root steeped in hot water, with a lemon wedge and some honey.
If I think of anything else I'll post it, but like I said none of the above worked for me. I was way past the point of nausea though, I was in the hospital for hyperemesis. Hope some of those might help you!

I know the feeling of the sickness, I had it real bad with my last 2 children. I found ginger, in a tablet form worked for me ok, but mostly it was canteloupe that really saved me. Canteloupe has a natural acid reducer. I ate it a couple slices at a time, then slowly I got up to a half of one, then next thing I knew the sickness went away.

Sea Bands worked wonders for me. I got mine at Wal-mart in the Rx area. They are really not stylish at all (they look like sweat bands) but they worked great. I hope you feel better soon!

This might sound terrible, but it was the ONLY thing that worked for me. Try eating a cube of cheese every couple of hours (I preferred Colby). See, with me I couldn't eat without feeling sick, but cheese gave me a sense of being full faster without eating much. It is mild and healthy (mostly that is). After eating a cube or two my nausea decreased a great deal for an hour or two. If your symptoms are as bad as mine were, one or two hours is a LOOOONG time :) Good Luck!
