I homeschool and would like to know if anyone has any FREE websites they like for the following...
1) Typing instruction
2) Leaning a foreign language, specifically Spanish and German.

I have one in high school and one in junior high that would be using these programs for school purposes.
I also have a 5 year old that will probably want her own version so she doesn't feel left out :)

And if you know of something that is not free, but very minimally priced I would be interested as well.
Thanks so much!

So What Happened?

So as someone else suggested I also asked a couple of the yahoo groups I am on for homeschooling.
As far as typing, here is what I was given in addition to the mamasource recommendations...
Mavis Beacon sold on Amazon for $8 (not free, but reasonable)
Keyboarding Games for Kids www.learninggamesforkids.com or .org not sure
Typing Without Tears app for Ipad
www.freetypinggame.net

As for foreign language...
livemocha.com/pages.learn-languages
Spanishpod101.com

Thank you for your input. :)

I like good typing.com. It's free and has helped me to improve my typing skills.

Ask the homeschool/group or co op that you are affiliated with I'm sure they will have some great suggestions!

There is a free app called Doulingo that is really good for learning foreign languages. I know it has Spanish and I'm fairly certain it has German as well.

We use Duolingo.com here. My oldest really enjoys it and is learning Spanish. They also offer Danish, Irish, French, Italian, German, Portuguese, and Dutch (Netherlands).
It is free, very kid friendly & is similar to Rosetta Stone (we had access to that for a while). We've enjoyed using it thus far.
I don't know of any typing programs as we aren't focusing on that yet but I'm sure there's something free or low priced out there!
Hope you find some that work well for your family.

Since you're in San Pedro, if you don't already have one go get a PV library card, then you get access to tons of free online resources, including the Mango languages online program which includes Spanish and German. Check out the PVLD.org website, and select the Research tab on the top to see all the free online resources you get with a membership, including free music downloads, free access to online books and magazines, etc. Good luck, and let me know if you find a good typing site!

I can't help you with the language learning piece, however my kids have really enjoyed using some of the typing websites. There are a bunch which are set up as games which you can access for free, and my son played a race car game for hours at a time.
