Best Formula for 7 Months Old

No real answer which is "best" when it comes to what your LO will eat and thrive on. A bit of trial and error might be needed. My pediatrician did say to try to choose between the Enfamil or Similac brands, but I know a lot of people who use Gerber or generics. My DD did wonderfully on Enfamil Lipil (3 yrs. ago), so I thought I'd try the same with DS when he was unable to nurse...and when it caused him belly upset and he was refusing to eat more than a couple oz at a time, I started the search for something else. I also started tasting different formulas (yuck, I know!) Enfamil Premium (the "new" version) is very "irony" tasting. He didn't like it. He HATED anything Soy...tried Enfamil Gentlease...he spit it out at me (6 months old) and cried. Yep, tasted like...well...digested stuff. Ew. Ok, so now finally, he's doing pretty well on Similac Advance. He actually likes the Similac Sensitive best (it's sweeter) but I want to try to keep lactose in his diet because it may be important for brain development (Similac Sensitive and also Soy formulas do not contain lactose...but some babies do so much better on those formulas, so don't rule them out!)
Also...some babies are pickier than others and some will only drink the premixed kind, others prefer the powder, most will drink whatever they are given!
The nice part about Enfamil AND Similac is that both have "travel bottles" for sale. Nice convenient premixed bottles you just pop a nipple on (you can buy them online or use a standard nipple) and you are good to go while on the run!
Ok...I've gotten longwinded...Does it matter which you choose? Nah...they are all very good (they all pretty much have DHA/ARA which is very important for brain and eye development). It might just depend on which your LO likes best and if $ is an issue, you can often get coupons from the companies.

I always started and stayed with the same formula until they were switched to milk. With my daughter, I did switch from regular Enfamil to Enfamil next step. Always used Enfamil w/ Iron for both my children...it is what our doctor recommended.

I would use an organic formula. All the hormones in regular formula are bad for your baby.

I don't know what would be considered the best. I think it would depend on how well it works with your baby. Each baby is different and each formula works differently on different babies.

My son did well with Similac Advance. I chose that brand because that's what the hospital offered after I gave birth.

The kirkland brand formula is great and WAY cheaper than the other brands. I have used it through 2 kids and they are both VERY healthy. If you compare nutritional values against Enfamil or the others you will notice that line by line they are almost exact just less than half the cost.

I breastfeed mostly but I do use some formula and I will tell you do NOT waste your money on name brands! The generics are EXACTLY the same, and cost so much less! My ped said some of the generics are even made by the same companies as the name brand ones and that there are no differences. With the name brands, you are paying for the label. We use target brand that says "compare to enfamil lipil" on the label when my son gets formula (a few times a week).

That said, if your baby is sensitive to formula you might have to try a few different kinds to get the right match. At Target at least it seems every kind of name brand has a generic equivalent. They also have generic brands at Costco and some of the major grocery stores.

We feed our 7 month old Earth's Best Infant Formula. We like it because it's organic meaning it has no growth hormones, antibiotics, etc. which are often given to the cows to help them produce more milk and to keep the cows from getting sick, but it is NOT good for your baby. Some other great organic formulas are Baby's Only and Vermont's Best (I think that's the name). If you find your baby has a reaction to the formula (digestive issues or gets rashes) the Baby's Only formula has a lactose free version.
One note: The Baby's Only brand says that it is for older babies, but it is the same content as other formula's and can be given to your infant. They want to encourage mother's to breast feed their children but don't realize that some are unable to do so.

Go for an Organic formula, they are the healthiest. Non-organic formulas are filled with awful chemicals. At times when I needed to supplement, I used Earth's Best Organic Formula. I think Similac also has an organic version. Good Luck
