Best Diapers for Eczema
I have read another post from a mom who has a child with eczema and received some great ideas for everything but diapers. I seem to have helped him through most of it by adjusting his diet, keeping his baths short and cool and using Cetaphil wash and lotion. However..... he is still struggling in his diaper area. I change him more than regularly to keep him dry but he still has red bumps that are irritated. He is a 22 month old foster child so changing to cloth will only help temporarily as I will probably only have him for another 3 months and the parent that is going to get custody will probably not continue with cloth diapers. So, my question is... has anyone with a child with eczema gone through the disposable diapers and found one that works better than another??? Thanks!!
So What Happened?™
Well, it took me forever to purchase everything free diapers due to living in an area that none of the stores carry it. But yesterday I went to Babies R Us for one of my kids to take pics with his parents and bought some there. In the meantime the thing that worked was creams. I really focused on keeping the area covered with cream and it worked. I have more creams than I can count but they are working. (only using one or two at a time btw) Thanks to everyone for their advice!!! He is so much better.

Any chance of potty training early? I realize the emotional stress of his young life may not lend itself to the idea, but cotton underwear would be cooler than any diaper.

My daughter has this problem. We buy dye-free, chlorine free diapers and the problem is solved. They are more expensive than the costco ones I was using, but not any pricier than most name brand diapers. I use Seventh Generation diapers most frequently, which you can buy at many online stores or at Whole Foods. Many grocery stores carry these diapers. They are usually in smaller packages. There are a couple of other brands. Just google "chlorine-free, dye free diapers" to get results. Many online stores offer great discounts and free shipping.

Hi K.,
I don't have any advice for you (I have never dealt with eczema) but I just want to tell you I am blessed by your dedication to this little baby. My husband spent several months in foster care as a infant before being adopted by his parents. We don't know who his foster mom was or if we could even find her (my husband is 40 now), all we know was that she didn't want to give him up! We can't thank her, but I will thank you. You are an amazing woman to love these babies and toddlers and then give them up!

Anything unscented is definitely better. I've noticed that the pampers brand tends to be scented. i use huggies or the kirkland/costco brand.
also has the doctor ruled out that the diaper eczema/rash is not a yeast diaper rash? because if that is the case then your doc will have to prescribe something i think.
as far as products, have you tried the baby line that arbonne makes. i love it!
good luck.

Get seventh generation diapers, they are the most gentle being nonchlorine dyed. My daughter has very sensitive skin and they are the only kind she can wear. They are also great for the environment.

Hi K.~
You're going through a lot of bother and expense in working with the little one's condition. Tell me, is the child on steroids?

i loved pampers or loves with my daughter who has eczema. also what you can do to help that is to cover the area with a and d or another rash cream. what also will help to clear it up and make it clear up a little is to give him a 1/2 tspn of childrens tylenol morning and night (it will make him sleepy). thats what i have to do with my daughter. good luck!

7th Generation and Nature Baby Care are both good choices for being gentle for baby. I know the Target on Adams and Brookhurst near the Fountain Valley / Huntington Beach border carries the Nature Baby Care brand. They are a hunt but they are worth it. 7th Generation can be found at Babies R Us that I have seen. I know someone already told you about these two but I just thought I would back them up :) It's so admirable that you are fostering little ones! I think it would be so hard to give them up after spending so much time with them :) Good luck!
