Best Diaper for Overnight

Hello moms,

My almost two year old has been consistently wetting through his diaper every night. He has milk before bed (we try to do it an hour before bedtime) and I change his diaper immediately before bed and he still is waking up soaked through his pjs and growbag.

We use Huggies (toddler) and have tried the next size up (walker) as well as the size after that (junior) and he leaks through all of them.

We haven't changed anything in our routine at all. Do you think there is a medical reason why he is suddenly weeing so much? Or do we just need a different brand of diapers? We live in Australia so we don't have as many brands as you have in the States, but I thought Huggies was the most absorbent. Any suggestions for me?

What can I do next?

So What Happened?™

Thank you for all the responses! We don't have Huggies overnight here, I can't believe it. We only have regular Huggies, Babylove, Pampers and then the home brand diapers. I will give the pad insert a try though, I was thinking of getting the cloth diapers and sticking one inside the disposable one, would that work? The cloth ones here are like large washcloths.

When my two year old was almost two, he had the same issue. Another person posted this question a couple of days ago. Maybe it's a growth/developmental thing. Anyway, what is working for us (and was recommended by other Mamapedia moms) is using a pad specially made to insert into disposable diapers. I don't have the name in front of me (it is in my son's room, and he is sleeping), but generically they are referred to as "diaper doublers." He's only had one leaky night since.

I don't know if you can get Luvs, but that's what we use at night...the next size up from what he wears during the day. During the day we use Huggies...just becaue I like that diaper better, but it definitely doesn't work good enough at night. I've never tried the doublers...

Good luck!

I use Huggies overnight with an incontinence pad as a doubler. Mine is a heavy wetter too.

We use huggies for over night.. the over nite time pull ups....

You could try putting a sanitary napkin inside his diaper in the front, to absorb some of the excess pee.......

We used a doubled cloth diaper and never have leaks or blow-outs.

I love pampers.....(have note dried the drymax). The diapers worked great for our son and our daughter. Every once in a while, they would leak at night once our children were about your child's age. We just added another timeslot to our potty training right before bedtime and that seemed to work. Our daughter will be 2 in January. We put her on the toilet when she wakes up in the morning, before lunch, before nap, before snacktime and before bedtime. Sometimes she goes, sometimes she doesn't but it is a nice routine we have gotten into and everyone once in a while she even tells us she has to go at other times of the day. Someday she will get the hang of it. We did the same thing with our son and right before his 3rd birthday, he decided he was done with diapers. That was a great day for us. :)
