Best Baby Shoes? Wide Feet Issue
I have started looking for soft-sided/squishy baby shoes for my one year old. He is just started walking. I mostly need something to protect his feet from sharp objects when we are at the park or on the lawn. I've tried Robeez and Pedipeds, and they were both very snug on his instep and ankle. I looked at Babies R Us, and they had none in his size. Any brand you think I should try or stores I should check ?

My daughter had a wide foot. We always had good luck/fit with Stride Rite. There is a nice little store in Arlington that carries a variety of brands and is very helpful and often has sales... Just Kids Shoes, 1201 W Arbrook #101

My son had extra wide feet and didn't even wear shoes until he was 10 mo. old. Unfortunately, the only shoes we could fing for him were at Stride Rite and they are expensive. You can get Munchkins at Kohl's for less and they are made by Stride Rite.

I agree Stride Rite is the way to go. They're the only place we could get shoes for my daughter and her wide feet also. For us the only thing that fit was Stride Rite specific shoes, not some of the other brands that Stride Rite sells.
We did find a few months ago that New Balance makes tennis shoes in wide that fit my daughter. Try that brand also when he goes to wearing bigger kid shoes.

Sketchers and believe it or not Payless. I had a Dr tell the that sketchers were wider than any shoe (that wasn't specified wide) on the market. Payless shoes don't last long, but they are cut generally wider. Make sure though your toddler has enough arch support in them. My kids have narrow feet so I was always in Nike

I had the same issue with my son and I found the perfect "shoes" crocks for him at Target. They are elastic and will allow for wide feet and they have them in plenty of colors. They look more like house shoes but they are still adorable and we love them. The doctor said that it is better for the "newly" walking babies (mine just turned 1) to walk in their socks or bare feet so their feet can form well and these crocks at Target are perfect for that as well. They are only $12.99 and they will do for me until his feet start slimming down a little bit :)

also i have found that sketchers are wider, i'm not sure that they have walking shoes like you are looking for but you might keep them in mind for the future...

I agree with Sride Rite! They are great shoes. Try the Allen outlet for a better price. I can get 2 or 3 pairs for the price of one pair in the mall. Also try Addidas or New Balance if you don't like Stride Rite. Both run wide. There is also an Addidas outlet store in Allen. Stay away from Nike. They run narrow.
