Hi all!
I was all set to get the ERGO baby carrier until I realized that it does not allow the baby to face outward!! My baby loves to be able to see what is going on and gets fussy if facing me too long. I really need a good and very comfortable baby carrier as I have a 3 year old too.

What is your favorite baby carrier that allows baby to face out and in- are there any that also allow the baby on your back too?
Thanks!

What can I do next?

I love my baby k'tan carrier. its kind of like a sling/wrap and you can use it in like 8 different positions. I have a bjorn and i think this is more comfortable. you can use it from newborn to toddler. www.babyktan.com.

Check out the Beco Gemini. You can find one at this website (and she has a great return-policy, in case it just doesn't work out for some reason): http://www.frogmama.com/catalog.php?item=853

The Beco Gemini is good up to 35 pounds, which is not true for the Baby Bjorn (and the straps are more comfortable, too - speaking from experience, as I own both a BB and a BG). It does a back-carry, hip-carry, and front-carry both inward- and outward-facing, unlike the Ergo. It also works for newborns and toddlers, so you'll be able to use it from the get-go with future kids, as well.

Please note that newborns cannot face outward, nor ride on your back or hip, however. Those positions are not safe until your child reaches a certain age and has head and neck control. The information will be included in the instructions. ^_^

I have LOVED our Bjorn, as have both of my kids, and it goes both ways. We've used the heck out of it, on walks, stores, you name it and my girls are/were always happy as can be in it. And it's comfortable the wearer too.

I agree with Julia S. I have the Ergo and also the Moby wrap - love them both, but the Ergo works better with a little older babies/kids (more than 4 months, unless you use the infant insert, which didn't work well for us). The Moby is a little tricky at first, but once you figure it out (tie it a little tighter than you think) it's totally awesome - especially at this time of year, when you don't have to worry about getting too warm. A wrap holds your baby more securely than a carrier, I feel, so that it's easy to bend over or do other things and have your hands free. Your baby can face forwards in the Moby once he/she is older too.

I second the Baby K'tan. With my first, we had a few carriers---the Moby is supposed to be good too, but all that material turned me off! The K'tan can fit into a diaper bag no problem. I can even still use it with my toddler.

i loved the moby wrap. it was a bit hard sometimes to do alone if you were putting baby on your back, but putting baby in front, in any direction, is pretty simple and comfortable! :) i love it!

We had a sling, a baby bjorn, and an ergo. Each served its purpose in its day. I did really like the ergo. The baby bjorn never fit me right but worked well for my husband (I'm 5'8", 120lbs). Other folks I know don't seem to have trouble with the bjorn. I used the sling instead from month 5 - 12 or so.

You can also use the Ergo on your hip so then your child is at least semi-front facing. I have a Moby as well, and as much as I like the idea of it, in practice it is just too much material for me.

The reason the ERGO (which is my fav) doesnt allow you to forward face in there carrier is b/c it isn't good for your child. It makes there posture and legs sit in the wrong position. You can use the ERGO as a back carrier so that your little one can see around after reaching the correct weight requirements.
