Best Affordable Double stroller...so Many Options!!!

My older son is 3, younger is 3 months, so I was looking for a sit & stand type stroller, which I don't know if you're considering or not. I bought a Joovy Caboose, and I love it. It accommodates the car seat I already had, and my older son gets a little bit of freedom on it. It's pretty big, so I do have to take off the car-seat attachment piece to fit it in my car. It's not overly heavy (although they offer a light weight, more expensive version). I paid $119 for it on Amazon. I would recommend it, or at least the brand, if you're looking for a different type of tandem stroller.

I purchased a Phil and Ted when I had my first. I have walked thousands of miles in the thing, and it is still in great shape. I love it because it is easy to maneuver through any terrain (including snow), and it has a very small turning corner, which is great for public bathrooms!

I absolutely love my baby jogger city mini double stroller. I bought it after my son was born(dd was 2) and he just turned 5 and I still use it on trips to the zoo or vacation and my kids are 5 and 7. It is still in perfect condition and has held up well to many years of use. I don't use it daily or even weekly anymore, but it is still like new and large enough for my kids and still easy to push even with almost 100 lbs of weight in it. My daughter is average height and weight, my son is 97%ile for height and weight. I got mine on sale and it has been so worth it, to still be using it 5 years later. I tried a McClaren double which was horrible to push, and a joovy caboose which was cumbersome and uncomfortable for the older child. Also tried a chico which was not as sturdy. I have used a Bob which is definitely as nice, sturdy and easy to push as my city mini, but it does not fold up as compactly and is not as easy to store. But I would opt for either a baby jogger or a Bob. But have to say 5 years later I still love my baby jogger city mini. ETA: you do have to purchase the car seat adapter for the city mini but it is so worth it despite that, because they outgrow that part quickly and soon you use it like a regular double stroller. And this one is so perfect in every other way. Just know that you need to purchase the car seat adapter to use that feature until baby is 5 or 6 months old or for however long you use a car seat. My son was huge so I didn't use an infant seat very long for him but you can use it much longer than I did. And also you can add a standing board to the city mini for a third child.

I have 3 double strollers:

1 - Graco DuoGlide (about $150) - it has tandem seating, which is great for times when I have to go to the mall and need something narrow enough to fit through aisles. It has a large basket underneath it that is pretty easily accessible. The rear seat accepts Graco SnugFit carseats.

2 - One Step Ahead's Double Jogger - made by Baby Trend - awesome stroller for walks, trips to the zoo, etc. Also accepts the Graco SnugFit carseat, amongst many others. I think it was about $250 when I got it last year, but now is closer to $300

3 - Chicco double umbrella - very light-weight and compact. I use it for quick trips, but can't accept a carseat. It was about $250.

I have the Graco DuoGlide which I loved...especially when the younger one was tiny because you could put the Graco infant carseat in the front ot the back. I would stick ODD in the back if I were going to a store (so she couldn't grab items off shelves!) and would put her in front for outside walks so she could see what was going on. It folded up easily (I can do it with one hand if I'm in a bind) and fits in the back of my van fine. Only downside was canopy for front is kinda flimsy so I just draped a light blanket over if it was really hot that day. Also only the front has snack/sippy cup tray...not a big deal when they are younger either. Front seat can be upright or reclined...and back seat can be upright or all the way down...no inbetweens. Storage bin is hard to get to if back seat is fully reclined, but is very large and holds lots! All of the things I mentioned would be nice if they fixed but weren't deal breakers for me and I would definitely buy it again! Best decision I made as I almost debated trying to make due with a single stroller...but have gotten SOOO much use out of the double!

As YDS got a bit older, I got an Instep Bike Trailer to pull behind my bike, and converts into push stroller as well. I particularly like this (once younger one is old enough to sit up well) because the kids sat side by side and could interact, plus it had a build in weather sheild if it was too windy or sunny that day. But wouldn't take this one to the mall or anything.

I bought my Graco Duo for $110 or so new on sale, and the Instep Trailer at a garage sale for $40. I agreeto keep your eye out on craigslist for sales...I see them all the time on there! Or if you were like me there wasn't alot to buy for the new baby...so it was fun to pick out a new stroller.

If I had to just get ONE style though I really like the front-to-back seating for a more anywhere, everyday stroller. Hope this helps...happy shopping!

We had the Bob Duallie and loved it. Seriously loved it. It's great for different weight children because it's got dual suspension (or something like that) and will still steer straight. A lot of the less expensive ones will pull towards the heavier child and you have to actively steer the whole time. The Bob can handle an infant seat, gets through all doorways, is super easy to push, you can go on bumpy terrain with it, and it holds up great. Best of all, resale value is fantastic! We bought ours for $480 (REI sells it and you can get a 20% off member coupon at certain times of the year) and three years later sold it for $350. There's simply no other stroller that you can buy for the money that works as well, holds up as well, and resells for as much.

We received a contours options double tandem stroller. The kids both loved it. They can sit facing each other or the same direction. There are even two car seat pieces so that you can use a car seat or two :) It even has an extra big bag on the bottom so you're not trying to stuff everything into something small. Very easy to handle.
