Belly Band for Pregnancy Support, What Is It? Did It Help You?
Im 35 weeks pregnant. I have separating hips and i'm really looking for anything that might help, i cant avoid walking,I have two other kids and a husband who basically lives at work(i don't exaggerate)
The pain is like someone is stabbing me right in the vulva with an ice pick.My doctor basically said there's nothing they can do about it unless it doesnt go away after giving birth which it most likely will. She said try a belly band (but she looked skeptical)
Ive looked up belly bands and got a lot of different stuff, but i prefer the group here and the opinions held within.
Did you have this pain?Did you use one? did it help, where did you buy it?

I didn't have that pain. However, when I went to the hospital at 36 or 36 weeks pregnant they put a belly band type thing on me to hold the monitors in place. I wanted to keep that thing on forever! They are just so comfortable while you're pregnant :)
Just get it and even if it doesn't stop the pain, it wouldn't be wasted money cause those things are divine for late pregnancy tummies.

I used a boppy one for back pain. I had to stand at work and wearing really helped. And it is designed to be worn with a pregnant belly and fliped around for postpartum.

I wore something called a Belly Bra, which is basically like a tight fitting top that has a support band under the belly. I ordered it online from Target. I did find it helpful to wear at work or while exercising, I felt like it kind of kept everything in place. My belly was so low with my second and wearing this did give me support, but boy did it feel good to take it off when I got home from work. I guess it could be compared to wearing control top underwear or spanx maybe.
Go to bellybra.com to check it out 39.99 but only 29.99 from Target and I honestly think it's the same thing.

I put out my back while pregs. Walking up the slightest incline or the stairs was a super challenge. The belly band helped. I think I got one from the drugstore. It was about 9-12 inches wide, made of elasticy/ breathable material, and had a wide velcro closure. It helped support the belly, and helped support my back.
Some people use them throughout pregnancy to help support their abdominal muscles and allegedly help them recover sooner.
Once my back pain resolved, I stopped using mine.
It cost under $20, and for me proved worthwhile.

It helped take the pressure off when I was huge at the end and it helped keep my pants up after I had the baby. I could wear my normal clothes with this because it allowed me to wear my pants without buttoning and zipping them. =)

I had the exact same thing with both of my pregnancies. I had a bella band, but it was more of a clothing accessory. Didn't help the pain at all.
The only thing that I found to help was physical therapy. There is a stretch you can do to relieve the pain and there are other toning exercises you can do to help as well. Just be sure to get a physical therapist that knows about the issue and works with pregnant women.
Good luck!
