Bee and Ant Problem

I don't know about the bees, but I have used ant traps before and they work well. They aren't expensive and you just put them in the path of the ants and it took care of it for me. One time I had to do 2 cycles of it to get rid of them completely. Good luck!

I work in a pharmacy...and every spring we start stocking bottles of Boric Acid...it is harmless to children and pets...and all you need to do is just sprinkle it where they are coming into the house. The most effective way is to find their nests outside and sprinkle it there.

Just a suggestion that hasn't been placed yet, but I've heard they work effectively. There are little glass bottles at garden stores - I've even seen them at Target and K-Mart - that have a hole in the bottom of them. I think you put something sweet at the top, the wasps, etc. fly up into them but they won't try to fly down out of them. Sound crazy, but I've heard great things about them and you won't risk getting an angry wasp trying to get you while you frantically spray it repeatedly (Yes, I've had this happen on countless occasions).

Do you have flowers planted near your door? Some plants and flowers really attract the bees, so if you have some, you could move them to another location. OR, on the other hand, purposely plant something a little farther away to attract them and draw them away from the door.

Unfortunately you may have a problem with wood ants. We had the same problem at our house in Louisiana. We didn't know it until we were getting ready to move and found that we had a wood ant swarm above the door of our back door. We wondered where he ants were coming from. As for the bees, it could be a simalar problem. My uncle had a bee hive in his wall that caused them to swarm outside his house. You may have to save the money and have it checked out by a professional. Especailly if it is as bad as you say. Regular chemicals may not do the job completely. To temporarily remedy the problem, raid makes these little cartriges that you just lay in your cabinet or on the counter, they also have sticky stuff on the back to stick them up on the wall if you want. They work really well and don't emit any chemicals. They are not big and come in white and black so you can hide them. Good luck and God Bless.

I am not sure what to do about the bee/wasp problem, BUT we usually have the same ant problem. What we do is buy these ant spikes in Walmart they are green plastic with white on top and they seem to work really well. I think last year my husband actually sprinkled some granules around the house too, really up close to the house so that it would really hurt the kids or the dog, it worked and we continue to use it every year whether we see ants or not! I would also buy the little circle ant traps and put them in the window sill between the window and the screen so that the kids cound not get to it and it would catch alot of the ants b 4 theywould get thru there!

For the ants: Sprinkle cornmeal across their path and around the perimeter of your house. As a previous poster said, they cannot digest it. The ants carry it back to the nest and share with everyone, and they all die.

For the wasps: Google "natural wasp catcher" and you will find all kinds of great contraptions you can hang. Here is a link to the first one I found: http://www.improvementscatalog.com/product/code/262494.do... It is $25 for a set of 3, which isn't too bad, but you might be able to get one for cheaper.

Cinnamon Oil works Great for the ant problem just make sure the kids do not touch it then touch their lips or eyes.

Well for the ant problem try regular dawn dish soap in the area they are coming in and that should stop them.. If that does not work kyou could try boric acid, but it is poison so keep it away from pets and little ones. I have a 2 year old and she never got into either one so good luck and let me know how it worked for you.

You've received good advice on your ant and wasp problems, but no one has mentioned calling a beekeeper about getting rid of the bees around your house.

Bees are really very beneficial to humans beyond just making honey. They are critical to pollenization of many of our food crops. Also, the number of bee hives in the USA is decreasing so rapidly many people in agriculture are worried.

Please try to find a local beekeeper who will know how to remove the hive (with the queen) to a safe place. I don't know of any myself, but you could probably Google to find someone.

I would try to get an exterminator. Wasp's and Bee's is a problem I won't deal with.

They could have hives in your attic or in the overhang around the house.

you can search for "ants" and "bees" and get lists of ways to get rid of them in chemical-free ways. We got ants once or twice, but I would use these suggestions (usually several at once) and they would never come back.

This is the only thing that works for me for the ant problem: Baby Powder. I sprinkle it along the floorboards, making sure to really lay it down thick where they seem to be coming in. I also do it around the outside of the house and the doorways. It does the trick every year. Good Luck!

Good Morning T.. Around spring time go to Wally world ( Wal-Mart ) and in the garden center get a bottle of I think it is called Spectracide? It is for inside and outside use. We spray around the outside of the house, in cracks and cervices, around door frames, window screens etc. I think it lasts like 3-4 months?
We get or used to get spiders, Roley poly's, ants etc in our basement and kitchen upstairs. Since using this we don't anymore. There is a wasp spray you can also get and it sprays from 15 ft away or so. If you see a nest spray it when they aren't swarming like very early mornings. Same for bee's. Had some wasps build a nest in my roses last yr. Got them outta there fast. If you have bee's or wasps in flower beds don't spray the buds or blooms, they will die.

I have tried the Organic things, but seriously I haven't found they work as well. I keep gr son's daily and have a puppy too, so we are careful also.
