I have two girls, 3 and 1 1/2 and they both go to bed at 8 every night. Before I had my 2nd, my oldest was always in bed at 7, however I worked full time then and she had to get up early. Now, they both go to bed at 8 and they typically get up around 7:30-8:00.
Have a good day

My daughter is 14 months and has ALWAYS gone to bed by 8pm and slept 7-8am. She gets up during the week she goes to my moms by 7am and naps by 10 for 1-2 hours and 3p is ready for a nother 1-2 hour nap than bedtime 7:30 -8pm. She has been on this schedual for EVER. Do what workd best for the two of you!!I would say anything before 7:30 is WAY to early. I myself feel guilty putting her to bed before 8pm.

it all depends on her routine....all babies are different
by age 1 MOST babies are down to 1 nap.... usually about 1 to 2 hours (average 1 1/2)
My three children were very different...eldest took two naps (short ones at age 1) then went down at 9pm and slept till 8 or 9 the next day....
my middle child was down to one 2 hr nap by age 1 and went down at 9pm and got up about 9 am
my youngest is NOT my sleeper....he at age 1 took 1 nap and it was a short one went down at 9pm and IF i was lucky would sleep till 730 am......
basically MOST babies at age 1 still need a lot of sleep I think if I am remembering correctly 12 to 13 hours a day including naps.....

I think that 8:00 is a reasonable bedtime. I try to stick around that time too. It is good for both of you. She gets the sleep that she needs and you get some me time too!

Hi L. -

It is so hard for any of us to say what time is the right time b/c every baby is so different! I would judge the time she needs to go to bed based on how she acts, the amount of time she naps during the day, how easily she goes down at night and whether or not she stays asleep throughout the night.

My little guy is a horrible napper, so I have read a lot of books on sleep. It seems the general concensus is b/t 6-8pm for bedtime. I have many friends who's little ones do great with an 8pm bedtime and others (like mine) who can't make it past 6:30pm! The early bedtimes are awful for us parents, but I feel even worse keeping my little guy up b/c you can just see from his behavior and his eyes that he is exhausted!! I think it is b/c he doesn't nap well during the day (we have tried everything!)....so for now he has an early bedtime.

Take your cues from your daughter -- with a little trial and error, you will find the right bedtime for her (may not be so great for you!). If she has a really hard time settling at night, wakes frequently etc., she MAY need an earlier bedtime. If she is doing good with her current time, I wouldn't change it! I have heard adjusting bedtime by as little as 20 minutes can make a huge difference! And as they get older, they aren't always necessarily able to stay up later. When my son was taking 3 naps a day, he went to bed at 7:30. When he dropped down to 2 naps, it moved up to 6:30 or 7.....makes it really hard for us to go anywhere with him in the afternoon!

Good luck!

Im suprised by some of the responses to this question. Why would 8:00 be too late??? That seems silly to me. Maybe easy to say when you have the joy of being home w/your child all day.
Every child is very differnt and every parents schedule is very different.
If my 1 year old twins went to bed before 9:00 I would feel like I am missing out of spending time with them. Between 8-9 are some of our best times together. Why rush them to bed. (unless they NEED to go do bed of course)

They wake up at 7:00-7:30 am and take a 2 hour morning nap and a 45 min afternoon nap.
It works great for us.

I think keeping consistant is far more important then the actual time your baby goes to bed along w/total amount of sleep. If 7:30-8 works for you and your daughter...it sounds like your doing a great job!

It could be her naps are too late in the day or too long, which is making her want to stay up... Or she could be possibly getting her molars in...

That time is NOT too early. You are doing good! :)
