I am freaking out I woke up this weekend with like 10 small bites on my arm and after searching the net all night I think they might be from bed bugs I havent been able to go in my room ever since,I havent seen any but wondering if they are hiding? Has anyone had these and how did you get rid of them?

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Good news.. Exterminator came out yesterday and said there are no bugs and probably thinks Im crazy I'm sure because I gave him what I thought was a bug and it was a black speck of dirt. I have the bite that is 3 bites in a row very close together so just for complete peace of mind I have one other company coming out today. Im sure Im just freaking out but I cant stop until I know for sure that Im not sharing my bed with any critters. Thanks for the advice to all.

Could it be bites from gnats or fleas (if you have pets). Don't freak. Just get educated on what it is and what to do about it. Hope you're feeling better about it.

I've never had that happen, but I've heard that bed bugs cannot be seen with the naked eye and are in our beds. Just wash your bedding once a week or so and you could vacuum the mattress every now and then.

Good luck!

Hi, I haven't had them...but my son is allergic to dust mites (and a lot of other things). Here is what the allergist recommended for dust mites (and it can help to prevent bed bugs). Spray your mattress with a dust mite/bed bug spray. I chose one from Bed bath and beyond that is natural. Vaccuum the mattress with a shop vac and enclose the mattress in a hypoallergenic encasement (also at bed bath and beyond!!). Wash your bedding once a week in HOT water. Make your bed as usual. It doesn't sound like you have bed bugs...but this should help prevent getting them! Good Luck!

Hi P.,

I know you have already had responses and had the exterminator out to your house, but I figured I would respond anyways. I actually have had experience with bed bugs!! They are disgusting little critters! They do hide. They can hide in the seams and stitches of the mattresses! Wash all bedding, and bag up any stuffed animals in a plastic bag tied tight!! Go to the pharmacy and buy RID Bedding Spray. Be sure to spray tops and bottoms of all mattresses! Vacuum thoroughly.

Good luck,
A.

I had fleas in all our beds when we got rid of our cats. Didn't realize they need a "host" and can live in baseboards and carpets then jump on animals and people. We bought sprays at the hardware store and it worked. I'm sure there are sprays for bedbugs. You may have to vacate the house of people and pets for a number of hours and set up the fog kind of sprays on each floor then vacuum good when you return.

Another possibility, which we did when we had mysterious bug bite issues, is to vacuum every day, make sure the pets had their flea/mosquito/tick repellent up to date, and to spray after vacuuming with a solution of water with some lavender essential oil all over the place. We had noticeable improvement after the first time we did it, and the problem was gone after 3 days for us.

Good luck!

Do you have any animals fleas will bite people from what I have heard they don't stay on them but they will bite. Where would you have picked up bed begs did you get used furniture or anything? We watch a show called verminator and they say the worst thing to do is to try to throw out the item that you feel is infested because it will spred them sll over. Have you noticed bites on your girls too? If you live in an apartment you should contact the landlord to see if they will have an extermintor come in if not you should call a pest control place in your area and have things checked out. Good Luck I hope this helps.

to keep the mattress you have to rap it in plastic(air tight). for about a week to make sure the are nice and dead. they live in mattress and box spring. then clean with bleach. i put moth balls in plastic, put a couple of holds in it. to keep them from coming back. use bugger fogger for rest of te room. they like to live in the floor, baseboardand night stands. they hard to get rid of.i would spray bleach under the crack of the baseboards too.

If you have pets, then there is a good chance that it is from fleas. We have cats and my husband had bites on his legs one day after sleeping on top of the covers. We used raid room foggers and put on in every room of the house and he didn't have any problems after that. If you do have pets, this is a strong possibility that it's fleas. Strip the beds, wash if bleach solution, and fog the house. If it's bed bugs, then you got me on that one. Good luck and God bless.
