Baths - Garden Grove,CA
Hey moms!
I was wondering if its ok to give my 6 month old baths every day? She tends to spit up a lot and I don't like her to be dirty. But is it okay for her? I know I've read to do it every other day or so but I'm just wondering what you moms think! Thanks :)

If she is dirty - then give her a bath. You might want to rub her down with lotion after drying her off from the bath to help keep moister in her skin. I use to have to put lotion on all my kids in the winter mainly after bath... their little bodies would get so dry if I didn't. But after bath & the lotion rub down they always smelled so good... I love the lavender baby wash & lotions. And they always had a better nights sleep after a bath then on nights without one.

It's not always necessary but if you feel she's dirty, let her soak. I might not soap her every day, just let her soak and wipe down the dirty areas. In the warmer weather, babies may need to be bathed more often than in colder seasons

I ALWAYS gave my baby a bath every day, and many times a bath twice a day.
The "all kids are different" thing applies to bathing as well. Some kids have sensitive skin, some parents don't like the bother, and some kids just don't like water.
My now 7yo has never had sensitive skin, has always looooooved the water, and we really enjoy(ed) bath time. He's also always been really, really, dirty. Spitting up when a baby turned into dirt/ mud/ bugs when he was a toddler... and hasn't really changed all that much. He's an active kiddo, and he sweats in his sleep. So he takes a shower in the morning and a bath at night. If he gets *particularly* dirty during the day, he may get an extra shower sometime in the day. It's FUN to get dirty, and then we clean up.
The only days he doesn't get a double soaking is when we're swimming all the time, and then we STILL rinse off the saltwater or chlorine.
Will bathing hurt your daughter? Not unless she's allergic to the soap.

hi,
it sure dont matter how often you bath her.. if she that dirty then why not.. but wash her down most of the time just for a spill up is fine too... I most of the time bath her then if she get the messy time then i get a tower under the baby and bowls of wamly soapy water and wash her up then lotion her up then she is good to go. I wanted to save time and water so everyday bath dont always have to be that way but it depend how dirty she is that need the whole tub to put her in.... good luck

It's ok to give daily baths as long as her skin isn't getting too dry. If you are worried about UTI infections from baths, you can buy one of those bath seat rings made by Safety 1st. Put her in the bath seat and then (if you have a hand held showerhead), use that to give her a shower. It works quite well. I do this for my 7 month old son and he loves it since I don't always feel like giving him a bath:)
