Baptist Hospital?

I will be delivering at Baptist in December. I am still new to the area and was wondering if someone could tell me what it's like there. Will I have a private room? Will I have the baby in the room w/me? Do the nurses neglect you?

Thanks for the info!

I can only say ditto to all the other responses. The staff was wonderful. Extremely attentive and they genuinely care about you and the baby. I delivered six years ago and had a stat c-section and the speed and professionalism that they had was impressive. I never felt that I was a number or just another patient.
Before we left the hospital, they checked to make sure that the car seat was properly installed. Something that most hospitals don't do.
Go, take a tour and they also offer wonderful child birth classes as well as classes for older sibblings.

I have not personally delivered there, but I have been told by several of my friends that they had a very positive experience. One of my friends delivered a baby boy at Baptist, and he had to be put in the neo-intensive care unit. She said the nurses and doctors were very supportive and positive with her and her husband. I will probably go there for my delivery in the future. Plus, my mom works at Baptist, and she says the staff is excellent.

Hi,

I delivered at Vanderbilt but I heard good things about Baptist. You should call or check on line and see if they have tours of the labor and delivery. I went on tours before both of my deliveries (one in Ohio and one in Tennessee) and they are great at answering all your questions, you get to see the facilities and you can usually preregister.

I have 2 children - a 5 1/2 year-old son and an 11-week old daughter. Both were born at Baptist and I had a wonderful experience with everyone at Baptist. I had a suprise c-section with the 1st child and a planned c-section with the 2nd. I had a private room both times and the children were with me as much as I wanted during the entire stay. Everyone was wonderful - from nurses to lab techs. If I can answer any additional questions, please let me know!

I cannot say enough about the care that I received at Baptist Hospital. I unexpectedly had to have my son 7 weeks early due to severe preeclampsia, so I was very sick and very scared (this is my fist child). The nurses are angels and saved my life! Labor and delivery patients are treated as critical care, so there is 1 nurse for every 2 patients. The L and D rooms are also huge (and private)! It was a LOT nicer than anything I could have dreamed up (i.e. hardwood floors, nice area for the newborn). The whole floor is a calm and soothing area. I owe my life to the staff there, who are as caring, understanding, and compassionate any I could have ever hoped for.
