Baptism Outfits

My son is getting baptized at the beginning of June but I'm getting his professional picture taken next Friday so I need to get his outfit! My daughter wore a gown but I want him to wear a suit (either shorts) or a tux or a romper of some sort.

What did your sons wear to their baptism? I have found suits (shorts or tuxedos) starting at $28 online (with shipping). I don't have much time to go shopping between now and then so wanted to see if it's better to buy online and risk it not fitting (he wears most anything in 12 months) or suck it up and go to the mall and possibly pay more?

I don't want him to just wear a suit or dressy outfit - I want him in all white.

What can I do next?

I have girls who have shared the same gown, but a friend of mine bought hers for her boy at Once Upon a Child.

Do you have a Sears near by? My father and his wife were very excited about my son's baptism, and insisted on buying his outfit. It was beautiful - white satin, shorts, shirt, suspenders and a bow tie. It also came with a white satin ball cap, instead of a bonnet. It was about $25. After they bought it and brought it over, I actually had to take it back for a larger size. Be careful if you buy online - things like that tend to run small!

My son wore our family's baptism outfit that my mom, sister, myself, and my niece all wore, yes, it was a gown, and my next child will wear it too, whether a boy or girl. But I have seen some at Babies R Us, in the style you are talking about. You may be able to find them online to look and compare, and then find it local.

If you want to make sure it fits, then look online at the local store's first to see if they carry something like you are looking. If they do then call the store to see if they carry it in the store, this will save you time and gas money. Good Luck

Last time I was at DIllards they had little white outfits for Baptisms.

I have always had a ton of luck at Burlington Coat Factory on things like that. It is difficult to spend that much on something that will be worn for just a few hours. I have bought several suits for my son who is only 19 months old and didn't have to break the bank! :) Hope this helps!

My son wore the cutest outfit - satin shorts, shirt, vest and bow tie. I got the outfit at a place called Puddle Ducks in St. Louis. But I was at Jcpenney over the weekend and saw that they had quite a few similar outfits that were cute. They also have several on the Jcpenney website that are adorable.

My son wore a long, beautiful gown. Then his sisters both used it. They each had their own bonnets. It is my intention that the gown gets passed to their children as a family heirloom. But they will each have their bonnet as a keepsake.

I used to be a professional photographer, and the one sitting that really sticks out for me was a baby I photographed. He was wearing the family's heirloom gown. It was over 100 years old, and the name of each baby that had been baptized in the gown was embroidered on the gown.

God bless!
