Bank Account for Kids
I would like to set up a savings account for each of my children. I am looking for a bank that has child friendly type of savings account. I want to teach them the value of money and help encourage them to save their money. I'm not talking a lot of money, just money they get as gifts, etc... Does anyone know of any good banks that help encourage children to save their money. Thank you!

Achieva credit union is great. the kids get a cute brochure and they have accounts geared just for them. $1 to open and they earn interest right away.

I don't know about other banks, but we have our kids set up at Bank Atlantic. They are open 7 days a week and until 8pm. which makes it easier for deposits. We make a family event, so dad can go too. I believe they only need $1 to open an account, they receive a piggy bank. They have a change machine in the lobby, so our 3 yr old son has a great time dumping the change in there. They don't charge anything for that either. We have saved up enough money to move some of his savings into a CD. They are currently offering 5.25% for a 7 month cd. Minimum of a $1,000 deposit though. We have been fortunate enough to have people putting money into his account and we able to put his money into the cd. That means he will make around $50 in 7months while his money is just sitting in the bank. We have found the staff to be very friendly. He takes his deposit slip to the counter after we do our change and gets a lollipop in exchange. He loves it! Good luck on your search!

Hi! My name is L. S. and I work at First Citrus Bank in South Tampa on Henderson Blvd. It's a small community bank that is dedicated to personal attention and great customer service. Yeah, I know it sounds like a commercial, but honestly we have a great group that works here and we love children and offer minor savings accounts free of monthly maintenance fees. Come by and get some information, we would love to help your children to start saving!
