It took us about a year to get rid of it but this is what we did. We cut down the entire area and tilled the area. Then every time there was any shoots starting we mowed them down (sometimes twice a week). Then in the fall we used a large tiller (we rented one) and dug up the area again. On the bright side, we planted a veggie garden over that spot and had the most fruitful garden I have ever had.

Yeah, let my boys come over. they can decimate anything. they especially like bamboo, because it makes great swords and such. you feed them, i will send them. LOL.
I only have dead bamboo, so it is not a problem except that they keep bringing it home.
Good luck,
L.

Hi B.,
You will have to eliminate ALL of the roots. That stuff is as hard a banana plants to get rid of.
