I'm interested in enrolling my 4 yr old in ballet or dance classes in Allen or Wylie. Does anyone know anything about the classes offered through Allen Parks and Rec? Any advice about good/bad studios would be helpful. Thanks!
We looked around in Allen as well, which is where we live. We ended up at Hathaway School of Ballet. I'm a retired dancer and can say the teachers are terrific, and at age 4 don't make the kids take it too seriously; it's all about developing coordination and learning musicality and such, even while learning some dance terminology. http://www.hathawayballet.com
My daughter just started at Creative Dance Elements. So far it's fine. Small classes and my daughter enjoys it. We also got the best rates here. My daughter is 3yrs. I'd love to hear more about others' experiences too.

I wish I'd asked here a few months ago. I just signed my daughter up for a 3yr old combination class at Cindy's School of Dance in Allen. I asked several Allen Moms and everyone sent me there. So far I've been pleased. They take dance seriously and my daughter is enjoying the classes so far. We'll see how it goes. I was also interested in the other Allen dance schools, but this worked out best for scheduling this year.

We take at The Dance Movement (located at Custer and 121), and we love it. My daughter started taking there when she was 3, and has now been there for over a year and a half. We had Ms. Heather last year and are taking with Ms. Lori (the owner) this year, and they are both wonderful--as are the other teachers, I'm sure! Their number is ###-###-####. Good luck to you!
My ten year old daughter has taken from Allen Conservatory of Dance in Allen since she was 5 and loves it! They do the Nutcracker every December (I think it's just for 5 and up though) and a real ballet for their spring recital (Cinderalla, Sleeping Beauty, etc. and each class plays a role and dances alongside company dancers). I would not recommend Cindy's in Allen. From our experience and the experience of friends, the instructors are not very well trained, there's a big focus on expensive outfits and inappropriate makeup, and not many of my daughter's friends (or my daughter liked it). I've heard good thinks about Acadamy of Dance Arts also.
