I'm looking for a dance school for my 6yr old daughter. She's been talking about being a ballerina since she could say the word. I want to get her lessons, but I don't know how expensive they're going to be.

What can I do next?

The Ballet Academy of Texas is a great school if she is seriuos about ballet because they know their stuff. But it's not a super fun atmosphere because the teachers are preparing the students to be dancers for life. They focus on ballet only for the first few years and then you can add tap, jazz, hip-hop later.
They charge $55 a month for 1 class. They have a website.
I do not recommend the Coppell House of Dance. The new owners are very unorganized and not friendly at all. Their tuition is $60 a month. We left after the first six weeks because my daughter's teachers kept changing, as well as what was being taught.

There is a place in Old Town Lewisville off Mill street that does ballet. There is also a nicer place off 3040 and Geralt in the red barn on the corner. It's called Expressions and they do voice/tap/ballet/jazz and theatre. I went there as a teenager and they were wonderful. I'm pretty sure they still do it all. I'm not sure how much either charges anymore.

Dance Industry in Plano off Windhaven and the Toll road is also great! Their instructors are very outgoing and pleasant to the kids. The instill in them the confidence to do in a fun and light hearted way (no yelling or barking) You can stand at the windows and watch the girls, the classes are small. I was quite impressed with the performance at the end of the year.

If you aren't sure try putting her in a park district or city class to test it out. Or maybe a summer camp?

Dancing Ovations in Forney. I pay $75 per month for 3 classes. Ballet & Jazz are combined for that age.

Hello F., I happen to know of a place real well and it's called Fantasia Dance Studio. They have a studio in Mesquite, as well as Forney. The Mesquite location offers great ballet classes, my daughter takes there. The teacher is very well organized, experienced and the kids love her. We have been with them for 4 years now and my girls love it. For one class it's $50 a month and for 2 classes it $85 a month and so on. Hope this helped.

Tuzer Dance School is amazing Richardson. My daughter started there at 3 and now she's 6. The owners were professional dancers and toured the world before settling in Richardson almost 30 years ago and opened their school. They still teach classes there. Their technique is really good.

You should go to their website, www.tuzerdance.com. I think they have schedules and tuition rates posted.
