Baked Potatoes

This is such a silly question...I usually bake my potatoes in the microwave, but sometimes
the microwave gets too hot baking 3 at a time for my family. We are having friends over Sat night, & I'm baking a lot of potatoes...too many for the microwave. How long to I put them in the oven for & what temp? Do I wrap them or anything? Thanks!

What can I do next?

So What Happened?™

Thanks guys!! Ya'll are really great to help me! I just put them on a baking sheet, smothered them in butter, & then let them cook for almost 2 hours. Crispy on the outside, soft on the inside. I want to try everyone's recipes, but I didn't know what my guests liked. So next time, I'm going to put in onions & garlic like ya'll suggested. Thanks!!

What I do to my bakers (and my family loves them) Preheat oven to 350 degrees, wash potatoes really well and pierce several times. Apply a coating of butter or margarine and place on a square piece of foil and select your favorite spices and apply to te complete area of the potato. I prefer garlic powder, sea salt and pepper. Wrap tightly and place in the center of the oven. Bake for 1 to 1 1/2 hours. You will know they are ready if you can stick a fork through the foil and 1/2 way into potato. Serve with your favorite toppings and the skin is great and has lots of vitamins. N.

Hi J.,

We usually put our potatoes in the microwave first for a few minutes and then wrap them in foil, bake for about 45 minutes at 350 or until they are soft.

Have a good dinner Saturday night!

What I do is put them in the microwave for 3 minutes then in the over for like 30 minutes at like 375 and wrap them in foil........if you just put them in the oven I think you have to bake them for like 1 to 1 1/2 hours, they take forever

I scrub mine pat them dry poke hole in them with a fork, rub butter all over them with a folded paper towel and then the secret is to sprinkle a spice called "salad supreme" all over them. Wrap in foil and then put them in a 400 preheated oven for 1-2 hours. Or I guess it depends on the size of your potato. I'm telling you the salad supreme makes all the difference!!! Good Luck!! Any questions don't hesitate to email me!!

Hi J.,

What we always do is take some butter & garlic powder & poke holes all in the potatoes & rub the garlic butter all over it, then wrap it in foil & cook it in the oven @ 400 for about 50 minutes or until soft. The holes help cook it faster sometimes. It really depends on the size of the potato also how long it needs to cook. Good luck & hope you have a great dinner on Saturday.

You can do them with or without foil...totally up to you! I personally like to wrap them in foil with a pad of butter and a slice of an onion...yummy!! Cook them (with or without the foil and/or onion) at a temp btwn 400 and 450 for 45 minutes to an hour. They will be so yummy! You'll never go back to the microwave! They are also good on the BBQ, but it takes a lot of propane to cook them, so sometimes I will cook em in the oven for a 1/2 hour or so, then put then on the BBQ to finish it off for another 10 - 15 mins.

Have fun! Enjoy your yummy baked potatoes!

Scrub potatoes and pat dry. Prick the skins with a fork a few times and place directly on the rack and back at 375 for 1 to 1&1/2 hours. test by squeesing them with a mit. If they are soft they are done. These will be fluffy on the inside and just like a fine restaurants. Enjoy your get get together.

I wash them thoroughly first, poke them with a fork, then stick them in a 425 degree oven for about an hour. They get crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. I don't recommend putting foil on them, as it will not let the steam escape.
