Back Pain and Abdominal Pain

Hi guys, I am very newly pregnant, about 3 weeks now. I had to under go treatment with Clomid to get pregnant due to PCOS. My question is that today I have had some low back pain, like the kind you get while you are on your cycle. And I also had a sharp stabbing pain in my lower abdomen area this morning, kind of like my stomach was upset, like I had gas built up. Just wondering if this is normal to experience this early on. I am not having any cramping or bleeding. This is my first pregnancy so I am anxious about every little thing. Thanks for your help!

What can I do next?

So What Happened?™

Thanks guys for all the advice. I'm not really having any stomach pains anymore. Just some occasional low back pain. All of your advice has helped to ease my mind! I appreciate it greatly!!!

Congratulations, I'm not sure about the back pain, but I had sharp pains sometimes cramping with all 3 of my pregnancis. Especially in the first couple of months.

I would see the doctor as they will be able to tell you what is going on. You are so early in your pregnancy that it could be anything or nothing. I don't have any history with Clomid so this could be a normal thing for this treatment. However, I do have history of having a miscarriage and felt what you are feeling; however, I was experiencing some spotting the day before I had any cramping. That is why I would just call you doctor to ease any concerns. Good luck!

I was convinced I was having a miscarriage almost monthly during both of my pregnancies due to cramping that felt exactly like a period. I carried 2 kids to term with no complications...I even "spotted" for the first several months.
I dont think this is common. But it can happen.
I'd call your doctor anyway. That always makes me feel better.

Hello!
Congratulations on your new pregnancy!. Abdominal pain can be quite common as your uterus shifts and grows and adjusts to the new baby growing inside. Unfortunately back pain may be a common companion off and on during the rest of your pregnancy as the baby grows. The uterus is actually attached to the spine by 2-3 muscles, this is what kinda keeps it anchored since your uterus sorta "freefloats" in your abdomen. As the baby grows it pulls on the muscles which in turn pull on the back causing some back pain. I have 5 kids and have experienced about every pregnancy pain there is lol. Hope this helped you at least a little bit.
Have a great day,

I had the same thing and was freaked out and went to the doctor. I was in first trimester. I was so embarrassed when the doctor said you are constipated. It had only been aprox. 1 1/2 days or 2 days. He said to take Fleet glycerin suppositories. There were other things he told me to take if that didn't get it. I'm not sure what they are now. Wish you well. I also had clomid. My beautiful blessing is 9 months old now.
P.S.The pain went away went I got past the constipation.

The pain is very normail! I've had 3 kids and with all of them I think i encountered these pains as well. Sometimes they'll fell like really really bad cramps but u know they arent since the obvious....u ARE pregnant. Well all i can say is ur body is going through a lot of chnages now and for the next 8 months. As time goes by though the pains will leave. I remember having really bad back pains with my daughter. Its like your lower back? Well those too will pass...all i can recommend is to lay on a heating pad and take tylenol. Usually that helps!!!

Very normal. I had, for the first 6 weeks of my most recent pregnancy, menstrual-like cramping. Your uterus is just getting used to it's new inhabitant. Just watch for any extreme cramping and bleeding, which are signs to call your OB imediately. God Bless!

Sounds normal. I will never forget that sharp abdominal pain I had at the beginning with my first. It shouldn't be very often, and as long as there's no accompanying bleeding I wouldn't worry. Your muscles are stretching and your body is getting rearranged on the inside - the pain, discomfort, impending morning sickness etc are all good signs that your body is doing what it is supposed to be doing. Congratulations!
