I have a question about the pain I have suddenlt in my back. It hurts only on the left side under my shoulder blade, it hurts when I breath deeply, cough, even move my arm wrong like one time that I pick up my cup of coffee it was a sharp stabbing pain.
The reason I'm asking yall is because I do not have insurance and do not want to go to the doctor if it's just a sore muscle or something. I have not lifted anything heavy or twisted the wrong way. I think it all started the other night when I had a coughing attack...but it seems to be getting worse. Thanks for any help.

What can I do next?

I would go to a chiropractor. It could be a rib out or something very simple.....get a recommendation for one around where you live. I have a great one but he is in Frisco. Dr. Chalmers.....he helped me with the chest pain I was having---after an MD, and a cardiologist did not detect the issue, he did, adjusted the rib and I am on my way again......

See if anyone you know goes to a chiropractor. You may be able to get a free evaluation. I know several who will do your first visit & x-rays for free if you get a referral from one of their current patients. If they are honest they will tell you if they can't help you.

Also if you decide to keep going, they should be able to make financial arrangements. My insurance stopped paying for my chiropractor a while ago (even though I have scoliosis) so the doctor worked out a payment plan so I only pay $20 a visit!

To prevent this from happening a lot, you may want to do some stretches first thing in the morning, and maybe find an exercise program to strengthen your bath muscles. You can throw your back out picking up a paper clip, it just means there's been a problem for a while that finally caught up with you. Good luck & feel better!

I don't know what you're feeling, but it COULD be a muscle spasm. If it is, eat a banana (potassium), use muscle cream, take ibuprofen, and drink LOTS of water. It will go away in a week or so if that's what it is.

This is the pain I had when my gallbladder was acting up. The pain would get really bad and then finally I would throw up and the pain would go away.

I would usually act up worse if I had eaten greasy foods. Pay attention to what your eating and write down how often you are having the attacks. If its constant then its probably a pulled muscle muscle and not your gallbladder.

Since you dont have insurance find the hospital in you county that is considered the Free hospital and go to the ER. They can not turn you away for noy having insurance and they can not turn away if you cant pay. Now dont get me wrong they will call and harass you for payment but you can pay it out even if its $1 a month.

Hey, I see you are in Joshua and there are posts suggesting a chiropractor. I agree and I've used Dr. Pettke (office is b/w Crowley and Burleson: 438 E Main St, Crowley, TX 76036 ###-###-#### ). His staff is great and they often run some ad or special that will give you the first visit and x-ray for free. A general dr will just give you meds (which typically make you feel loopy) and won't actually address the problem. I used Dr. Pettke just after I had my first child. My neck "got stuck" in the down position and I was in so much pain I couldn't look up or raise my head. After the first 2 sessions I felt so much better and was back to normal in just a week or two. Good luck to you!

It also sounds like it could be a gall blatter attack. My sister had the same thing happening to her and she had to get it removed. Have you been sick, like any vomiting or what feels like heart burn? I'm not trying to scare you, but my sister lived with this for a long time because of insurance and it was really scary because she kept getting sick. Best of luck to you and let us know what happens.

Sounds like a pulled muscle. I've had that several times and it really hurts. Take an Aleve or Advil and try not to overuse it until the pain subsides. Mine always starts when I've slept on it the wrong way.

It sounds like a rib out of place. I get these a lot. Go to the chiropractor. I see Dr. Dean Beacham in Mckinney. He's great! He not like some that say we need to see you 3 times a week for 6 weeks, he adjusts you, tells you to take a hot shower to help loosen the muscles and call if need him. Love him! Tell him I sent you! ###-###-####

It could be a pulled muscle from coughing. Anti-inflammatory meds like ibuprofen should help. You can take up to 4 at a time, 3 times a day to give you relief (that's the same as a prescription dose, so it's completely safe--just eat something with them). Also try using a heating pad, or getting a couple of those stick-on hot pads. If the heat and meds help, that's probably all you need to do. (I'm a retired nurse.) Good luck.

It could be pneumonia or bronchitis. Neither of those will go away without antibiotics. If it doesn't feel better in another day or two, do you have a MedExpress or Walgreens Clinic nearby? They will usually tell you the cost before they treat you. Good luck!

It does sound like something's out of place so it might be good to try a chiropractor first to save money. I want to make one point though. Don't let anything like this go too long. Some cancers start with pain and can feel like pulled muscles. You do not want any doctor telling you that you waited too long to be seen. I back the message of the free hospital thing. An acquaintance was delayed seriously in getting an appointment so you probably have to go through the emergency room to get to them in a timely way. I do think I'd consider paying for a chiropractic exam or an urgent care exam first. Just don't take "I don't know" for an answer and then just wait it out.

Not having insurance is of course likek playing roulette with your life. Think really hard about getting a job with benefits. EVen some part time jobs have full health benefits. It's harder now than ever before. I do hope that this Administration's new health care plans make it truly affordable. I hate to see people suffering because insurance costs so much.

Hi there ok sounds like you could have a strained muscle which can get worse due to lots of coughing and so on... Hold off a while and try to take it easy and no heavy lifting for a couple of weeks...I have a few health problems one being severe asthma and this also sounds similar to what I get when I have Pleuricy which can cause sharp pains when you cough ,breath in deeply or move the wrong way etc...ok this sounds terrible but it can and does heal itself within a few weeks as long as you take it easy and look after yourself..
Pleuricy is an inflammation withing the lining of the lung its quite a common thing especially with people like myself who have cheat problems..It can be brought on by a simple cold even so try not too worry.
My advice would be to carry on as you are (if there are no other symptoms ofcourse) take it easy and rest as much as you can. If it is one of these as stated above,it`ll heal itself. If the pain is very bad try taking ibuprofen which can also be taken along side paracetamol (uk)
If you o have other symptoms then a trip to the doctor may be your only choice...
All the very best
Dawn x
