Back and Leg Pain
I have been having a sharp pain in my left leg (right below my knee, right above my calf). I went to the doctor yesterday and she told me that it could be coming from my back. A friend suggested I go see a chiropractor and get my back aligned........well, I have never been to one before, and don't really know what to expect.
My younger son (13 years old) keeps asking me to go to a chiropractor for his back.
Does anyone know of a good chiropractor near the west bloomfield area? One that is good kids as well as adults.

So What Happened?™
I would like to thank everyone for their responses. I did seek chiropractic help with my situation. After working out at the gym last Wednesday, there was a chiropractor by the doors, doing free back screenings.........I went and did the back screening thing and got a certificate for their chiropractic office. It was for O'Dell chiropractic in Walled Lake. Since I got the free certificate towards a consultation and first set of xrays, I went to that chiropractic office to see what they were like. It was ok, They took a couple xrays and other than that they didn't do too much else.
They called me the next day to tell me that my insurance covers chiropractic services, but not too much. It covers up to $500 per calendar year. That is hardly anything concidering that the first doctor I saw there told me that I would need to go in about 3 times a week. They charge $50 a visit, is that what chiropractors usually charge? It should be lower if you don't have insurance right?
I went in twice already and they haven't done one adjustment yet.........I don't know if I like it over there, though. I have met two of the doctors so far and they were both nice, but I still don't know. I was wondering would it be horrible if I went to another chiropractor somewhere and had them look at the xrays as well, to see what they would tell me?
I have another appt. with them on Monday for a new patient orientation with the head chiropractor there, he is supposed to explain my xrays to me and tell me exactly what they will need to do to correct my problems. I told them about the sharp pain in my left leg too, but they haven't said anything about that.
Thanks again for all the suggestions for a chiropractor in my area........thank you.

M., go to Dr. Sam Gray or his partner, Dr. Katie Azoli. I have had back and leg pain since I was 23 (I'm 40 now). I had never been to a chiropractor before either but last year everythign was bothering me, I was even getting pins and needles in my hands and feet. I had several tests done and no one could figure out what was wrong with me. A friend referred me to this office and promised they would cure me and as of last July, I've been a new person. They are on the corner of Elizabeth Lake Rd. and Vorheis Rd. in Waterford near Summit Place Mall, I live in WB and it's about a 15 minute drive but well worth it. ###-###-####. Everybody is super friendly. I started going ever week for maybe a month then down to twice a month now I just go whenever I need an adjustment.

Yes, in the WB area, Dr. Eric Mintz would be fabulous. He writes many articles for local papers and is the parent of 2 young children himself. He helped my Father when conventional Dr.s treatments only made his condition worse. My Dad is one happy camper now!
Best of luck.
