I am the maid of honor in my sisters wedding. We have talked about having a bachelorette party for her. When her and I discussed it, she said she didn't want the typical, go to bars and get trashed. I am ok with that! I have no idea what I should do! I am looking for any suggestions to make this day special for her. I have tried to look on the internet but I have not found anything that sounds like a good idea. Anyone have some fun ideas? Any help is very much appreciated!! Thank you all in advance!!

For mine, we went to the Ritz Carlton the day before the wedding (when all my out of town girlfriends had arrived) and had afternoon tea. They have beautiful service (includes champagne) and my Mom, MIL and Grandma all came, too. It was very elegant, but not too expensive ($20 a piece).

-A spa day is nice ( you might call around and see if they do group packages at a place).. Some packages include lunch at the spa~
- Girls slumber party.... All the girls can dress up in Pj's and you can can rent movies, do facial on each other, order pizzas, just be silly like when you were young.

How about a spa date or manicure, followed by a cook-out? I also saw a great article about having a scavenger hunt for a bachelorette party. Another thing: my friends & I had a blast at one of those places where you paint your own plaster item, they fire it & you have a terrific ceramic creation (the one I know is called "plaster fun time". ALhough that's local to me, maybe there are similar places near you.). We could bring our own bottle of wine & had a blast.

Good for you -- and the bride -- for wanting something fun that isn't about getting trashed or being gross.

Have a great time!

I REFUSED to have a typical one. We went out to dinner and had a few drinks and called it a night.

No reason to go out and act like animals before getting married. I NEVER understood that mentality. I think going out with a fake veil is doing shots makes a mockery out of marriage.

I'd ask her what SHE would like to do and then you make the arrangements.

Spa theme - You can go somewhere or have someone come over for mani/pedi/massage. Dinner and some drinks could follow.
Movie night - A total chic-flick marathon with some of her favorite romantic comedies.
Pleasure party - someone comes to the house with all sorts of sex toys and books. This is racy but with good friend, adults only, it can be a lot of fun.

If it's in the budget and there's a location near you, go to Cirque De Soleil. Amazing!

Or, how about a going to a concert or jazz club or other similar thing together?

Roadtrip to a spa?

Hiking/canoeing/rock climbing (I don't know what sort of outdoor features are in your area, but?)

I would say a spa day. It would be kind of pricey, but if you figure how much you would have spent on new clothes, food, and booze to go out all evening, it'll probably end up being about the same. I don't know what type of day spas you might have in your area, but I've been to Red Door by Elizabeth Arden before & it was heavenly. You can even do a package deal that includes lunch!

Love the Spa day/night thing. A nice dinner or a personal shower/bachelorette party. My party was where we had a nice dinner games/movies and I opened extremely sexy but tasteful lingerie and some chocolates, wine and bath items :)

You have received so many great ideas. I don't even know if mine can compare.

Have a party and on the invitations ask each of the women to either bring a recipe they love and/or some words of encouragement or wisdom (you may want to supply index cards with the invitations or at the party itself as an actiivity for the words of encouragement.) Decorate a index card box for the recipies and the words of encouragement and wisdom.

This is what was done for my wedding and I still read the words and feel all the love and warmth of all those years of wisdom from the women in my life. It was beautiful.

Do you have a casino near you? We just took our girlfriend to the casino. It was great. We got a room, went to a concert, went to one of the bars for a few drinks, gambled a bit, then went back to the room and ordered room service! It was really fun.

What about just having dinner (out or in) and a few margaritas or something? And throw in a movie like Couples Retreat?

Or all go to a Zumba class, then throw some shrimp on the barbie?

Really, just base it on your sis's personality. If she's not a stripper-licking pole dancer normally, why do it at the bachelorette party? I agree.

Do a spa thing. Manicures/pedis massage just a nice relaxing girls day at the spa and then go have dinner or something. Maybe she would enjoy that. I sure know I would! :)

There are a bunch of small wineries in our area so you could do a little tour of them instead of doing just one! If your sister likes beer you could also consider doing a tour of Boulevard brewery and then doing lunch and spa treatments. You have some good suggestions and there are lots of places, fancy or not, all around the metro!

For one of my best friends, we spent a day on the wine trails, visiting wineries! It was fun, and we took a limo, so traveled safely! Oh, and we went out to eat at the end up the day.

I think a spa day would be wonderful too!

For one of my dear friends we went to a winery. There was only the four of us, so it was small and intimate. We sampled wines and cheeses and little finger foods. We went out to eat after and saw a comedy show. Then stayed up till all hours being silly-it was fun!

I didn't read all the suggestions, but here are things friends and I have done.

1. Slumber party. I was the second to last of my high school friends to get married, so they were all out of the bar scene and had kids. We used to have slumber parties at my parents' house in high school, so we asked my parents if they would mind if we had one for my bachelorette party, and they were thrilled! We watched movies, ate junk food, played games, stayed up late, T.P'd a friend - it was a blast.

2. Great Wolf Lodge. Another friend of mine from work wasn't interested in going to bars either. She loves to go swimming but got married in February, so her sister thought it would be fun to get a suite at the Great Wolf Lodge and spend the night. We had a lot of fun swimming and enjoying being in a hotel (several of us were already married with kids).

3. At-home spa. We didn't have a lot of money to spend, so one of our friends offered to give the bride a pedicure, and we all did our own manicures. We swapped beauty secrets and played a Name the Heartthrob game. It was fun and inexpensive.

I sell Mary Kay and I did a bachelorette party once, it was so fun. The girls all did facials with me, you can also do pedicures. This way I supplied all the stuff and it didn't really cost the girls anything unless they wanted to buy some product. They had wine and fruit with a chocolate fountain, it looked like they all really enjoyed themselves. If you have a MK lady and you like the product it's a good way for your sister to earn some free product for the wedding too. It's also a good time if the other bridesmaids want to try and match lipstick or anything you can all order it. Good Luck!

SPA day!! Or, a friend of mine (I wasn't able to go) had a chef come into her home to cook dinner for 12 ladies. They also hired two massage therapists to come give massages. They had a really great time!
