My Aunt was born with only one kidney. She is now approaching her 50's has 3 grown children (unfortunately smoked for awhile but she finally quit a couple of years ago!) and has been very healthy. Your baby can live a very normal life, try not to stress about it (yeah right.. I know :( ) because it won't change matters, just love your little miracle! God bless you and your family!

My newphew was born with one kidney. He is 100% fine. Other then his yearly ultrasound and no contact sports in the future(without protective gear) he will live a totally normal life. Congrats on the baby.

My girlfriend was born with one kidney. She is 32 years old and healty as can be. She has two healthy children and lives a completely normal life!!!

Hi K.! My sister just found out that my neice only has one kidney. She became ill with a flu or something and they did xrays and discovered she only has one. She is 14yrs old and has no known illness or anything related to it so I don't think there is much to worry about-as long as she has at least one good functioning kidney. That's all I know on that!

My youngest (now 3) was born with 1 functioning kidney. The non-functioning kidney will eventually atrophy and be nonexistent. Molly is a healthy, VERY active, little girl, and I forget about her having only 1 kidney. She will see a specialist every few years for a check up, but other than that (and not playing contact football the doctor says!) she is and will be fine!
