Baby Trend Sit and Stand

I like it! My kids are 2 years apart and right now it's perfect for a trip to the zoo. Pretty easy to handle, esp. going through doorways (as opposed to a side-by-side) and the older child likes having the freedom to get up and walk easily.

I hated my BT travel system too and I ate a lot of crow when I bought a sit-and-stand! I also liked the joovy caboose but I didn't know if they'd use it long enough to justify the cost.

If your older child is younger than four, the sit and stand is not a good choice. My daughter was 2 when her brother came along. She hated the back jump seat. It did not provide enough support or comfort for her. There was no back support, it was difficult to get into the storage basket, and there was no cup or tray. As far as standing she wasn't interested. It was really uncomfortable for her, she really hated it. There was no way for her to lean back and rest. I sold it on ebay after a month.

I got a Combi double wide which I used early on but it was so wide I could not easily go through doors or store aisles. (Why do they make them so narrow?) I switched to an Evenflo Take Me Too and I love it. My daughter sits in the back on her throne. This stroller allows the rear child to get out on their own, there is a nice step. My son's seat was upfront. At 5 months he transitioned to sitting in the stroller seat. He loves it because it has a food tray and he can see everything. He is now 19 months and my daughter is 40 months. We are still in our Evenflo. The stroller steers well, I can steer it with one hand while pulling my shopping cart behind me. It has a large basket that you can easily get things in and out of when the children are in the stroller. It only costs $89.95 at Baby Depot. A great bargain. My stroller has been heavily used and I have had no mechanical problems at all. The wheels squeak at times but I have never done anything to prevent it.

The only drawbacks are the less expensive model has no cup holder or tray for the back seat (I put an aftermarket cup holder on and my daughter eats from her lap). The front seat canopy will not keep a child dry, it is really only good for keeping the sun out of his eyes. I used an aftermarket rain shield for strollers to keep my boy dry when we had to go out in the rain. There is not parent consol but I have read some people have had problems with their parent consol. I have a cup holder for me.

I have the Baby Trend Sit and Stand. I do like it alot, but now that they kids are older(5 and 3) and heavier, it is harder to steer. I do get frustrated with it now. I think that also might be because isles at the stores seem to be sooooo small these days. The weight issue didn't come up until my youngest(who sits in front) hit age 2.

I love my sit and stand as well. It is perfect for the older child who likes to walk on their own but will want to ride when they get tired, it is super easy for them to hop in and out of. It does get harder to manage as the younger child sitting in the front gets older (and heavier) but so far I've been able to manage just fine and my youngest is 3 1/2. My only real complaint is that it does not fold up very well. If you anticipate needing to take it with you often, make sure your trunk can accommidate it.

I got the sit n stand when I was expecting my youngest. My older child was 3 and wasn't really into a stroller much anymore. But I knew once she saw the baby in a stroller, she'd want to ride too. I was right! The sit n stand was great for that. She was big enough to sit or stand safely. I think that is the only question - how old is your oldest? The sit/stand area has a strap, but it's not the most comfy seat. They definitely wouldn't nap or relax in that seat. Just sit down when they're tired of walking at the zoo or mall, etc. I like mine, but it is like driving a Hummer and a little heavy to put in and out of the car. But I guess its to be expected.

I bought the Baby Trend sit and stand after my younger son was born - he and my daughter are 28 months apart. This was a great compromise since my daughter thought she was too big for a stroller, but we knew better.

As you are searching - Baby Trend does (or did) make a version that had a second seat that was removable and the sit/stand bench was underneath (I think she could stand on the platform, but not sit on the bench with the seat in - but it's been a couple of years so I don't remember for sure). We opted for this model since my daughter was still pretty young and wanted the sit/stand option for her to grow into. This model also has a variety of bars to latch on different "bucket" carseats. It gives you the directions to connect your brand and model of infant seat and it pops right on the front. There were times I wished it had snapped on the back instead - my daughter would get a little frustrated sitting behind the baby, but it wasn't that big of a deal in the big picture. The flexibility of this was very nice though as most "systems" only properly work with their own brand of infant carrier.

For our purposes, it suited us very well. I did not use it all the time, I had a Jeep jogging stroller for my son (LOVED IT!!! and I believe they do make a double-stroller as well) for every day excursions when my daughter could walk along (on more than one occasion she did wind up in the basket under the Jeep stroller).

Now...the downside for the Baby Trend...it is VERY heavy (thus the reason I used the single stroller when possible). It is not terribly hard to unfold, but it's big and kind of awkward. It does not have a very tight turning radius but it pushes very smoothly and we found it to be very durable. All of that said, I did not find any others that were much lighter or could turn on a dime. I researched for months before buying the Baby Trend - it suited our needs the best and I would make the same choice again - it was truly the most flexible of anything else I found and I believe we got more use out of it for a longer time than we would have a regular double-stroller because my daughter had the option to stand. She is now 7 and this will be the first summer we won't use it for amusement parks, etc...

My sit and stand stroller is about 4 years old - maybe they've improved since then. I hate it. It's not as sturdy as other double strollers. Storage basket is hard to get into. It's difficult to get the baby in the front unless the seat is reclined. The storage basket can't be accessed if the child at the stand platform is in the stroller. There are no cup holders. The bench in the back is uncomfortable when sitting on it. The stroller itself is heavy and then add 70 lbs of kids and it's very hard to steer. I would never recommend it. Good luck!

I have a 6 month old and 2 1/2 year old and I LOVE this stroller! It fits my infant car seat and my toddler can sit or stand on the back. It's very easy to steer and has sufficient "storage" space. I made sure though, when looking at this stroller that it had a parent tray, because I know the less expensive one did not and let me tell you, if I do not have my cup holder on a day at the mall, huh, well we'll leave that to the imagination :) Good luck and I definitely recommend this!!!!

My first question to you would be how old is your first child?

I have the sit & stand stroller and I love it, my kids are 4 and almost 2. The 4 year old loves the ability to either sit or stand on the back of the stroller and I like that if she doesn't want to be in the stroller I'm not pushing a big bulky double stroller w/an empty seat and my kid walking next to me. My little one seems to be comfy in the front seat. I don't think the stroller would be good to use until the new baby can sit up since you couldn't really put the seat back w/the other child in the back. I also have a double umbrella stroller (jeep brand) that someone gave to me and I like that alot too, it may be easier to use in the beginning since you can recline one seat and not the other and it's not as big or heavy as a standard double stroller.
