Baby's Easter Basket
Hoppy easter!
I love Easter, and would love to put together an Easter basket, or some other gift for my very bright and precocious 9 month old daughter. What to fill a small basket with? Or should I give another gift altogether? Any suggestions anyone?
So What Happened?™
I want to thank everyone with their easter basket suggestions(but I can skip the respones who didn't want to have fun with it because my daughter "wouldn't have a clue.") I put a jar of her fave baby food, a couple of teething biscuits (these were a great suggestion), both wrapped with bows, a couple of chew toys shaped like bunnies, and some very shiny, chrome colored plastic Easter eggs(empty) to play with. When presented with the felt basket, she squeeled with delight, dumped it over, pulled out the large gold egg first, then the baby food jar and tried to take the ribbon off, then foud the biscuits, took the bow off, managed to open them and dug in! (how's that for clueless?) So, overall it was great fun to watch. We even taped a few minutes of it. Thanks again everone!

Ditto on the gerber stuff and fun snack foods! Also, I got my son an Easter basket (cheap one) and got Crayola age appropriate stuff, like those wobbler crayons and little fun toys, like the new weebles.
I didn't do candy last year, the Easter Bunny (and grandma) did, but had an Easter egg hunt with stickers, mini games and stuff. Last year I discovered Wal-Mart has an amazing selection of inexpensive toys for a buck or two and since the attraction ends quickly it's no biggie.
Even just hunting for the fun colored Easter eggs is exciting!

The Easter bunny left biter biscuits, jars of baby food, snacks like cheerios or gerber stuff, board books and rattles/infant toys, etc. when my kids were babies. And some candy for mom and dad too. =)

This may be too late but here goes. My baby is eleven months old. I got a baby sized basket from the card aisle at the grocery store! It's plush. I put in a little stuffed bunny, a my first Easter bib, and a bunny rattle. Good luck!

Hi M., Happy Easter! How about a book with fuzzy chicks and bright colors for your daughter, and a stuffed animal. Every child loves those things for years. A "bossy" 9 month old? you're scaring me...
The real reason for Easter is that Christ has risen, he loves us and gives us his grace. God's unearned love and favor. We can have comfort in that.
have a great time! Deb

Small books such as Beatrix Potter or flower fairies are nice. Perhaps you could add a
stuffed animal such as a rabbit to go with it.

I try to stay away from alot of gifts and candy for Easter, because I don't want it to turn into just another holiday that the kids get spoiled. I do put together a basket with a few small toys and one or two candies, but that's it. When my kids were younger, I would put a DVD, or a small toy. (I stayed away from the stuffed animals because you end up with ALOT of those as the kids get older.) Now, I use Easter as a time to give each kids a new pool or sand toy and one cheap DVD or game. For my baby this year (11 months) I am putting a Blue's Clues DVD and a package of three "Little People". I will put one chocolate bunny in his basket so I can get some cute photos of him eating it (and then take the rest away, hehe). Instead of hiding candy around the house for the kids to find in the morning, I hide the plastic easter eggs, maybe with one or two candies in them.

I have a 11 month old who I'm doing a basket for also. I put some little toys in hers like bunny ears and bubbles, not for her to blow of course but she can try to catch them! BIG whistles, make sure nothing small enough to put in their little mouths and babies love them! Also, we didn't really want her to have candy because she's still pretty young but big brother is going to have some so we got her those marshmellow bunnies. In my husbands family it's tradition to get a new outfit including shoes! Have fun

Your 9 month old is not going to be able to fathom what you are doing!!!! If you want a basket make one that YOU can use. 9 month olds do not have any use for them.
