Baby Shower Games - Ugh!

Ok, mamas.....help a girl out, will ya?

I am a stay at home mom of 2, after leaving my career as a 911 operator. My former co-workers still kindly include me in the goings-on in their lives and I am deeply touched by this fact. :-)
They are always saying how much they miss me, how fun I was, what a crack up I am, etc.....

A baby shower for one of my classmates is coming up this Sunday & the organizer has asked me to come up with some games.... I am at a loss even AFTER searching the internet.

I would like to do something different than the "rope measuring the waist", "name the baby food taste test", "smell the poopy diaper" , "take the pin off the woman who crosses her legs", etc.....

Keep in mind, this is a good & fun loving group of girls who have a very silly (and almost sick) sense of humor :-)
I feel like they are really counting on me for the "laugh factor", ya know? And I certainly do NOT want to disappoint! LOL

What can I do next?

I made a game out of identifying the name of the baby animal that goes with the mother animal: start with a few simple ones (cow: calf), (cat: kitten), and then crank it up: (swan: cygnet), (spider: spiderling), (gorilla: baby or infant), (eel: elver) - there are some really tough ones out there! I think i googled "baby animal names" or something similar.

At my shower they did a thing where you got a badge to wear when you got to the shower. There was a "baby" word on it, and you weren't allowed to say that word (something like bottle or diaper or labor). If you said it, the person who "called you on it" got your badge. At the end of the shower after gifts, whoever had the most badges won. You could even make it funny with different words -if you know someone can't get through a few sentences without swearing or something like that -use those words!

Some things that were done at my baby showers were:

1) Give everyone a piece of Super Bubble gum (the pink gum) and let them chew it for a minute or two. Then hand them a small paper plate and tell them to spit their gum onto it. Then tell them to make a baby out of the gum. Some people will gross out and others (surprisingly the guys) will get all into playing with the gum. You award a prize to the best baby and could even give a prize to the best sport.

2) As gifts are being opened have a person pretend to be writing down all the gifts and who they are from (but really have someones do it). The person that is "writing down gifts" is actually recording the first words that come out of the mom-to-be's mouth when she opens the present. After the gifts are opened then you tell her what you were doing. Then tell her that these are the things that were said on the night the baby was conceived... and start reading off the things she said. It gets pretty funny!

3. Also, give everyone a piece of paper and a book to write on (along with a pen). Tell them to put the book and paper on top of their head. Then tell them to draw a baby... then draw a blanket around the baby... then give the baby a bottle... etc... Award the best picture. You get some interesting drawings! Be sure not to tell them what they will be doing until AFTER they have their paper on top of their head.

Have the daddy answer 20 candid questions regarding the baby's birth, the mom's behavior in the delivery room-is she gonna be a terror? a crybaby? silent sufferer? How many weeks does dad expect to resume intimate relations? Who's going to get up with the baby? Will they share wake up duty? Does poop make dad gag or not? Does mom expect a 'push' present?
Think of some fun and embarrassing questions (10-20) to ask the father of the baby in advance-get his answers-bring to the shower. Have the guests fill out their names on a piece of paper with the number of questions that they feel the mom will answer the same as the dad. Have each guest take a turn and read one question out loud to the mom and have her answer to the group-someone needs to record her answers. Have 3 prizes ready for those guests who filled out the right number og questions answered by mom. Remember, to ask some funny questions about breast feeding, whether dad finds pregnant women a turn on or not, etc. I hate those traditional babyshower games, too, so, hopefully, you can work it out. good luck!

my family has a notorious HATE of all of those dorky shower games. SO we came up with a new one (i am sure none of us thought of it, but it probably came from another friend or shower or something). we thought of three or four really tantalizing starter phrases, such as, "my mom would DIE if she knew...." or "the dumbest mistake i ever made was..." or "i think the sexiest man (or woman!) alive is..." anything that might lead to some exciting responses. (keeping in mind, many of our mothers - and grandmothers! were at the shower too!) we had everyone fill them out, then cut the answers into slips, mixed them up (make sure they put their names on each answer) and someone stood up and read them aloud. we all guessed whose reply it was (by holding up a piece of paper with the person's name), and one person kept track of the correct answers. it was a hoot! we had some really juicy secrets come out, and everyone had a blast.

Ok, if you are looking for a laugh -- we just played this game at my SIL's shower and it was HILARIOUS!

You need balloons and possibly string. If people are wearing tie-shoes, you don't need a string. If you have slip ons, etc. -- give them a string to put under their shoe.

Everyone puts a blown up balloon up their shirt (like a preggo belly) -- then you say GO and everyone has to bend over, tie their shoe (or string) without lifting their foot off the ground or popping the balloon.... 1st person or 1st few win!

Just the pictures of our friends with balloons in their shirts is HILARIOUS!

Good luck, have fun!

have them make bibs or onsies for the baby. you can do the double musical chairs. you have one group (the inside ring) go one way around the chairs then your have the second group for the opposite way. when the music stops you will end up with 2 people in 1 chair. 1 seated and one in a lap. it gets kinda crazy. you could also do a small pot for when the baby is born (date, weight, sex (if unknown) and time). winner gets 1/2 the pot and the rest goes in babies bank. you can take a poll of how many bibs the baby will get.

It seems like the most fun game at any type of shower in my family has been the "dice game" You go out and buy a bunch of small gifts. If you get a good combination of gifts, this can be very crazy and fun! By the right combination of small gifts, I mean enough so that there are at least 2 per guest. One or two should be a little nicer than the others. A few can be gag gifts. If you know the invitees well, you can include a few things that you know will appeal to a particular person or people. You wrap all the small gifts. Put them in the center of the group. Then pass around a plate of dice. If someone rolls doubles, they get to pick a gift to take and hold on to but not unwrap yet. Keep going until all the gifts are distributed. Once someone has 2, they bow out, so everyone should have eventually have 2. Then, everyone opens their prizes. You think the game is done, BUT guess again! Their prizes are not safe! In the next round, a timer is set (I think about 15 minutes, not sure) and the dice are passed around again. This time, if someone rolls doubles, they get to "steal" someone else's prize and trade them for one of their own. Usually, it's one or 2 coveted items that get "stolen" over and over again. And people try to "sell" the finer points of the sillier items they want to get rid of. The down-side is that this game can get a little expensive. You can have each of the guests contribute a small wrapped door prize to cut down on the costs, BUT you just have to make sure no one gets their feelings hurt if their prize gets made fun of in the process. And you never know what you are going to get. This game is fun, and no one has to be blindfolded, have any particular skill, be creative, or get up and move around too much. Always fun!

Make up a trivia game about the parents such as when they were married, thier birthdate, first date, thigns from their childhood, etc. On line find pictures of famous people when they were babies and write a clue to go with it. Everyone has to guess who the famous person is.

Everyone is given a plain piece of paper (whatever color you want or have). You must hold the paper behing your back and tear it into the shape of a baby/person without looking. It's hard and very funny to see how they turn out. Mom to be can pick a winner from whose looks the best!

at my baby shower, we had baby pictures of me, my husband, our sisters and brothers, nephews, cousins etc...and had the guests try to match the photo to the right person. Whoever got them all correct at each table won the centerpiece/prize

I did one when i threw a baby shower, i put up like 80 balloons filled with names, only one had the correct name of the baby (that person being the winner of course) The rest of the names were very silly, well some of them anyway. It got people laughing and frantically popping balloons. Other than that i played the games you already mentioned only a slight variance of them. I used toilet paper for the "rope game". And we put necklaces on that had rattles on them, if anyone said the word "baby" we took them.

we did a fun game.
Get donated magazines for baby, parenting and such.
Get into teams of 3 and have them times to make a cluster of pics that create a baby and what they think it will look like. Accessories and nursery decor is a plus too. Each team gets voted on the best display. Take about 30 min to do this. need scissors, magazines, 11 x 14 paper , glue stick.

String up a clothes line and put a bunch of clothes pins on it, then try to get as many off as you can in one minute using only one hand while keeping all the removed pins in that same hand.

Also using a clothes line, take a basket of baby items (clothes, burp cloths, diapers, hats, etc.) and have the player hold a baby doll in one arm and see how many items she can pin up to the clothes line using just one hand in one minute. (Helps to have an apron that can hold the clothes pins). This is also very funny to include the dad-to-be if he is there.

We did a fun game at a shower I threw recently. You put a bunch of baby items on a tray, set the tray out for 30 seconds, and then put the tray away. The women have to write down the items from the tray that they remember. The one with the most items, wins. And the mom-to-be gets to keep the items on the tray.
