here is a fun game and no prize needed...
get those "hello, my name is.... name tags. on each label, write a baby related item. (bottle, pacifier, crib, onesies, etc.) this is the persons new name. get a piggy bank and set it on the table or apoint someone to be in charge of it. the name on the label is the new name of that person. whoever calls the person by the real name and not the new name has to put change or a dollar in the piggy bank. it is fun to watch everyone call each other asperator and baby wipe and diaper. it is a fun way to "break the ice" and it doesnt cost a lot!

I had my baby shower with my family and friends, men and women. I did that so my husband could be part of the party because he'd just got back from Iraq and it was our first baby. We had no games but we did have a CAKE! I would say do what you are comfortable (financially) with. I am not into the girly games...they just aren't me. There are games that aren't expensive. One is a game that i played at my cousin's shower where you have baby words scrambled and the person to get the most gets a prize. Look online for cheap games. I'm sure there are some out there. I hope this helps.

One idea is to do stuff that will entertain but not necessarily games with prizes. Have projects that your guests can do but you get to keep as keepsakes. For instance I saw on a show a woman who did a belly cast. Basically do the same thing you would do to make a piniata, the glue concoction you can find it on the internet, its just water and flour i think, then strips of paper whatever color you want and have the ladies do the work. Plaster your belly, Then you get to keep it, they turn out really pretty and if you want your guests can sign it. Or you could do games and not give out prizes who says you have to?

A.,
Hi and congrats to you. With my first babyshower, my friends got together and had a fun game. Its where you have a safetey pin pinned to a diaper... Who ever gets the diaper with the mustard in it gets to give me the gift to open it was really fun and exciting...... There are cheap ways to buy things for the shower if you can think of anything. Like for instance there is the dollar tree they have really nice neat things there.....

Hi A. and congrats on your pregnancy! I've been researching online baby shower ettiquete (I'm pregnant myself) and basically since it's your shower you get to decide what goes on. Nobody says that you absolutely have to play games and give out prizes and so on. It can just be a gathering of friends and family to honor you and the little one you're expecting. Just have fun, relax and enjoy this special time!

There are many games that you can play that don't cost money. The most fun one I remember at my shower was to get some toilet paper and wrap it around your belly, then have your guests guess how many squares it is. Oh, and another one was to blindfold someone and give them baby food (veggies work the best) and see if they can guess what it is. I did that one also and just asked my friends and family to bring a couple jars "for a game". We had fun with that game, plus I had plenty of food for when my child was old enough. Trust me, people understand how much raising a kid costs, and don't mind bringing things to help out with the shower.

There's some good sites out there that have wonderful game ideas. At our shower we had a raffle. people bought a ticket for $5 and guessed the baby's date, weight, time, etc. & whoever was the closest without going over got a gc to a restaurant. We made about $200 off of that alone! we really didn't have any other shower games though. it wasn't your typical baby shower though....we used to be bartenders before our little surprise came along so we threw a huge pool party w/ bbq and a keg! LOL! We received about $2000 in gifts, $900 in gc alone! It's funny how young people will flock to a keg. It worked for us though!
