I was asked to do games for a baby shower for a lady in our church. (she doesn't have family near, so our church is throwing her a shower) Anyways i am sick of the same old bingo baby shower games. Does anyone have any good suggestions that i could use that would kinda be a change of pace.
Thank you in advance for your help. :)

We go a baby doll and newborn baby clothes and then timed those who wnated to participate to see how fast they could dress the baby! Very fun seeing as some women weren't grandmas yet and it had been a long time since they dressed a baby.

At my baby shower, we played a game where each woman was assigned a famous mom. The name of the mom was taped to her back and it was only through asking questions of other guests were you able to make guesses. The names included Queen E., madonna, ect. We loved the game. Good Luck.

The first one depends on the crowd, but I took notes about what my sister-in-law said when she opened her presents and then compiled all of them as the things she said to my brother on the night the baby was conceived, "I can't believe how big it is." or "My boobs keep getting in the way." or 'oooh, It's what I've always wanted."

It's good for laughs, but obviously could offend some people:)

Another one is where two people hold up a clothes line and you give the mother to be a fake phone and baby doll to hold and then see how fast she can hang a bunch of baby clothes up on the clothesline. It's funny to watch b/c it can be really hard for them to get the hang of the multi-tasking, but it shows them what they'll be doing once the baby comes!

Hi J.,
I must admit that I am not a huge fan of these games, but there is one that stands out in my mind. Guess how big. You pass around rolls of toilet paper and the guests rip off the number of squares they think it will take to wrap around the mom to be.
Have fun

There was a fun game at my baby shower. It was a version of The Price is Right. Someone bought a bunch of little baby things that I would need (bib, rattle, teething ring, etc). You line them up and people have to guess how much everything cost. Everyone had a lot of fun with it. The winner got a small prize and I got all the little baby stuff!

At my cousin's shower, the hostess passed out paper and pencils, then revealed a shallow box (you could also use a tray) with a couple dozen small baby items--rattle, teething ring, binky, a bottle, washcloth, small bottle of baby powder, diaper rash cream, bib, etc.--for a few (2-3) minutes. After she re-covered the box, we had to write down as many items, in as much detail, as we could remember within a time period--I think it was five minutes. You would be AMAZED how many small baby items you can pick up at a dollar store! Whoever had the most items correctly within the time allowed for writing won the game. After the game, the hostess dumped the whole box into a gift bag and handed it to my cousin!

Hubby and I have always been partial to couples baby showers and have thrown quite a few. Here's some ideas that appealed to all involved:

Timed change the baby (usually just for the men); fastest change wins a small prize.

Quess the baby book game. Write a list of first lines from well known baby books ("Goodnight Moon," "Go Dog Go," etc) and a list of the book titles. Person to match up the most books to first lines wins. (It's actually a lot harder than you would think!)

my mom and sisiter peeled the labels off baby food jars and numbered them, then everyone had to guess what they thougth it was. also as people arrived they all got a pink clothes pin ( i had a girl) if yousiad the word girl you lost your clothes pin to whoever caught you saying girl. you gave them your clothes pin and whoever had the most at the end won, you can also make everyone take a lenght of ribbon and have then cut it to the lenght they think it is around the pregnant womans belly. closes guess wins! have fun!!

This may sound nasty but it was alot of fun. Poopy diaper game. Get differnt types of chocolate candy bars and melt down and spread in differnt diapers. pass the diapers around and each person has to smell and guess what type of candy bar it was. the person that gets the most right wins a prize.

Hi J.,

We just gave my sister a baby shower and here are 2 games that were really fun. We did the "Guess the baby food" game. We had five jars of baby food and took the labels off. Then everyone had to taste the food and guess what it is. This was so funny watching everyone's face eat the baby food. (the mac n cheese was so nasty!)

The other one was "Baby Bottle Chug" game. We used pink lemonade (but you can use anything)and put it in baby bottles. The first person who finished the bottle won. This was funny too because those wholes in the nipples are so small!

Hope this helps!

Hello! For my SIL's shower a group (family & her co-workers) made a bunch of theme baskets- when everyone arrived, they got 10 (I think) tickets (those raffle type) to put in a bag, for the basket they wanted to win. After we all ate & she opened her gifts, they drew a ticket from the bags to see who won- it was a fun & diffent idea- it involved everyone & a great icebreaker, too. Another cute idea, they hung a clothes line around the room & hung the gifted baby clothes on it. As far as items for the theme baskets- tis the season for yard sales- you can usually find items in good shape for great prices for in them :) Have fun planning!!
Have a Great Day!!

I recently attended the baby shower of my step-sister-in-law. The games that I remember from the shower were a word scramble of baby terms, guessing how big around she was, guessing the due date, guessing the name she picked, etc.

Also, all the guests were given a plastic baby charm on a piece of yarn to make a necklace. If someone caught me saying the word "baby" then I had to give that person my charm necklace. The person who ended up with the most necklaces at the end of the party got a gift. Believe me, it is a lot harder than you may think to not say the word "baby" at a baby shower.

Good Luck with the party.

I'm not a big fan of games, but I consented to two at my shower. The first was similar to the guess how big game someone else mentioned, but we used string. The second was a guess who game. Everyone brought a baby picture of themselves and we collected and numbered them. then, everyone had to guess who was who and, well, you get it. I like the birthdate 50/50 idea! Especially if she doesn't have family, I'm sure she could use all the help she can get.

I have a GREAT one. Buy a package of baby diapers...you will need 6-8 of them for the game and the rest can go to the new mom.

With a Sharpie marker, write a number on the outside of each diaper (Diaper #1, Diaper #2, etc). Just before game time, you will place a different bite-size candy bar into each diaper (be creative!!). Then, microwave each diaper for about 20-30 seconds to melt the candy.

Pass each diaper around, and guests must "Guess the Poopie". They are permitted to smell AND taste in order to guess.....but you will be amazed how many people will not dare taste it, even though they KNOW it's candy! It creates alot of laughs and great pictures too!!!

Some good ones are York Peppermint Patty, Baby Ruth, Reese's PB Cup, Butterfinger, etc.

i liked the game where you give the girls a list of animals and they have to guess what the baby is called... for example kangaroo gives birth to a ______... joey!! i also liked the game (if she's having a girl) write down as many names as you can think of that are also names of flowers. the baby food game was fun, my MIL did that one at my shower. She had everyone write their name and addres on the TY card envelope, she would tell everyone that we are going to use them for games, then she picked the names out of the basket and those ladies would come up in front of everyone, then team up. one would be blind folded and the other would feed the blindfolded person baby food. be nice to your guest and buy the applesauce or something good tho... the other stuff can be gross. It's a hysterical game! gets everyone laughing!

other than that, i say google it, you'll find something that you want!! good luck!

there's tons of games online.

I'm not sure if this counts as a game or not but at my cousin's babyshower they had a birthdate 50/50. Each person who wanted to participate made a donation ($1 for her shower) and they got to pick a date on the calendar when they thought the baby was going to be born. If you guessed correctly you would be mailed a check for your half of the money and the other half went into a savings account for the baby's college fund. I know a lot of the people told her that if they won, they would like to be notified but that they wanted to donate their half of the money back to the baby.
