I am pregnant with my third child (had twin boys 8 years ago) and my friend would like to throw me a baby shower. I don't know how appropiate it is to have a shower after I have already had children. It has been a long time since I had a baby but I don't want to look tacky or greedy for gifts. Do you think its OK to have baby shower with 2nd baby?

What can I do next?

Thanks everyone for your thoughts. I feel much better now if my friend wants to go ahead and throw a shower for me and the new baby. Thanks again!!

What great friends you have - enjoy anything they want to do for you. With my group of friends we give a new gift for every baby born. Even if it is new socks or a pack of diapers - every new baby deserves something new just for them. Right now a group of us are throwing a big baby shower for our friend expecting her 4th child. Since she has 3 boys - we thought she could use a new wardrobe and girly things. So enjoy your new little one and anything new someone wants to do for you. COngrats and good luck.

it is custom to have a shower with your 1st and last child. since you had twins that long ago i think that it would be very appropriate to have a shower now. good luck with the new addition

Hi N.,

If someone wants to throw a shower for you, receive it with all the love it is given!! After 8 years, I am sure you have gotten rid of much of your stuff and some of it isn't even safe anymore (like carseats). I don't think it will appear greedy in any way, after all, you are not the one throwing the party...

I had my second child about 9 years after my first, and someone threw a shower for me and I was so very thankful, since I had just about nothing. Congratulations on the baby!

Hi N.,
My friends threw me a surprise baby shower for my second. It was great b/c we played games, talked and the BEST part was that instead of "gifts", they brought a frozen meal and diapers. It was great!! Now, if your friends would like to throw you a shower and bring gifts that you need, go for it, otherwise, mention for them to bring diapers and frozen meals. I didn't have to cook for 2 1/2 weeks after my 2nd daughter was born.

Good luck to you and best wished on your new arrival,
K. :~)

D ear N.,
Enjoy, enjoy, enjoy! How lovely to have a friend who would like to have a party for you and your friends to celebrate this wonderful event in your life. Besides, what mom doesn't like a chance to sit around with friends and reminesce about their own "baby days" current or past?
This has nothing to do with gifts...it's about coming together with friends to celebrate this new life, the gifts are secondary and even those pals on a tight budget can wrap up what would be a much appreciated "babysitting coupon.'' Maybe you'll be needing pink ??
