Baby Shower - Santa Monica,CA

I'd appreciate suggestions for a fun baby shower activity or game. I'm throwing a shower for my friend, but the trouble is that most people coming do not know any of the other guests (it's her mom, her college roommate, her coworker, etc). We have an age range and English isn't the most comfortable language for a couple. So, I know there's websites with suggestions, but if you've done something and loved it and think it might work with my diverse group I'd love to hear it! Maybe some type of icebreaker? So far I plan to have them decorate onsies, but that's all I've got! Thanks!

What can I do next?

baby shower bingo

make bingo cards with names of common gifts on them like outfits, diapers, blanket, bottles, stroller etc and as guest open gifts they mark off each item until someone gets bingo.
because of the language you could do picture of the items or somethign maybe.

Hi K.! I was actually anti-games for my own shower but I did agree to a few things that me and my guests enjoyed. First, I made a list of my choice of baby names and then a list of my husbands choice of baby names and my guests had to guess who chose which name. And some of the names were pretty crazy...so people got a good laugh. Second, my guests signed up on a list for either "Future babysitter" or "Other (make a meal, help clean house, etc)." And third (my favorite)...I got a picture of me w each one of my guests to put in an album and each guest them wrote some words of wisdom or encouragement on a colored index card that was placed in the album under their picture. I also included a copy of that picture w the Thank You card. Hope this helps!

"Mystery" games are popular at showers. You can do one or both:

1. Mystery diaper- have an assortment of disposable diapers and smear a variety of food items in them and have the guests guess what each thing is. Popular choices include; Semi-melted chocolate bar, peanut butter, pudding, jarred baby foods such as carrots, prunes, corn etc.

2. Mystery baby food- same deal as the diaper, except you buy an assortment of jarred baby foods and remove the labels (be sure you know which foods are which to determine the winner!) and have the guests guess what each item is.

Some other ideas: Have everyone who has been a mom or babysitter give mom to be their best advice for getting baby to sleep, dealing with diaper rash, colic, whre to get deals on baby clothes and products etc.

Divide the room into two teams. Blind fold a person from each of the two teams and see who can adequately diaper and dress a baby doll the fastest in the "dark" just like mom and dad will have to do in the middle of the night when baby arrives...then on to the next..and next like a relay race. Which ever team finishes first wins. You'll need a few baby dolls/rag dolls and clothes and diapers to do this.

i have gone to a couple baby showers i have seen an played a couple of games that i think are fun.So take a look at these and see what you think? If you need some more feel free to ask i know some more games but it all depends on what you need?
1.In this game all you need is some toilet paper and the pregnant gal that your throwing the shower for.You ask the gal to stand up and model her fabulous belly (shirt on no need to show skin) and you have the guest guess how much toilet paper it will take to go around her .Everyone grabs and individual estimate of how much toilet paper they think will be needed. The one closest, or the one that does not need more squares of toilet paper or doesnt have extra squares wins!
2.You will need clothes pins and a hanger. All you need to do is put the clothes pins on the hanger. The guest have to take one clothes pin of the hanger one by one, with just one hand and at the same time they have to say a piece of clothing or item (Ex. diaper, bottle, crib, bibs, blanket, etc.) and they cant drop the ones the have in their hands or their out.
