Easton and Jameson are both very cool names. My opinion on the middle name is that most people will never hear or know it so it won't matter...unless it has a special meaning to you and your husband (a relative also has the name or something like that), that's how we chose our childrens middle names.

Just let picking a name be a fun thing for the two of you to do. Remember lots of people will have opinions, but go with what you feel the best about between you and your husband. (We actually don't really say what the name will be until after baby is born...we just keep saying, "we are still thinking about it!"

I think Jameson Grant is a good one....

Well, a big part of it is your last name (and I understand not posting it here) so say the entire name and then just the first and last since that's what most people will call him anyway. So if your last name ends with an "on" you wouldn't want Jameson or Easton because of the two 'on's at the end. If it doesn't, you're good to go. And I'm not particularily fond on two single syllable names together such as Smith Grant or Smith James (I assume that was what you were going for with Smith).

I think both Jameson Grant and Easton James are great names and not too common, but if I had to pick, I like Easton best. And I think when your baby is born, you'll know which name is right for him.

Jameson Grant is a beautiful name, Wyatt Jameson or James, James Elliot, Elliot Jameson, Karl Jameson, well that is all I can think of this early.

I am the mother of 5 and I found that seeing "who" the baby looked like was helpful. All of your names are great and maybe he just looks like a Jameson or an Easton. Daddy doesn't want a Jr.?

I haven't looked at name books lately but you may want to check to see if either are on the top 10 names. Avoid highly popular names unless you want him to go through school always having someone of that name in his class (my brother had this almost every year)

I'm all about original names that you can tell are either a boy or a girl. These sites definitely help in letting you know how commonly used the names you're interested in are. Good luck. My sister didn't decide the name of the baby until after she saw her last one just because they couldn't decide beforehand.

Naming your baby is a personal choice, and no matter what everyone else says on here your still going to pick what you like best. But it is always nice to get feed back. I think no matter what you choose it will be perfect for your baby.

When I picked my sons name, I didnt want a name that could be easily shortened (Some people like nicknames.) something that sounded fitting for all ages as he grows. Something not too common, but not way out there either. Something timeless. Anyway I made a list of names and had my husband pick ones he liked off there. And we decided on Caleb. When thinking about a middle name, we wanted it to flow well as a whole. First middle and last. I also liked the name Cole, so we decided to put them together. Caleb Cole. I sat with that name for a few months and liked it more and more. and it fits our sons personality perfectly.

It all boils down to what charicteristics you are looking for in a name, if it be trendy, something from the family, Bible names... ect. Whatever you decide, It will be good! If you like it, what everyone else says doesnt matter. Your the one who is going to be saying it about a hundred times a day for the rest of your life. :) Enjoy it!

J., I love the name James. But it is so close to your name. I would choose Easton. Or Easton James is cute. On a side not-- I know 2 brothers named Smith and Grant. They also have a brother named Maxwell, which I think he got the best name of the 3. Smith is cute, but in Utah there are so many last names of Smith. I love helping people think of names(if they ask for help). Good luck and let us know what you choose.

I have a son named Grant, so I'm partial to that name. I have a nephew named Weston, but had not heard the name Easton before. I like that it is unusual without being too out there. Both names are really nice...we waited until our older son was born before we gave him a name. We wanted to see which of our two choices fit him best. So, I would suggest meeting him first, before you name him.

I LOVE the name Jameson...our third was to be Jameson but was a girl...Annelise instead. I personally like Jameson Smith or Jameson Grant...I wish you ALL the best!

I'm J., and my 13 month old son is Jameson Michael. We LOVE this name for him, it suits his perfectly! We chose this name for several reasons. Initials had to be JMD to follow my husband's family tradition. My father's name is James. My FIL, husband, youngest brother and oldest nephew all share the middle name Michael. We loved Jameson because it is just different enough to stand out, but not to STAND OUT!! It also sounds like "J.'s son" which my husband really likes. We are not fond of shortened names...and later on he won't let anyone call him J....cause that's his mom's name (YUCK)! We have had one alcohol reference, however, "Oh, Jameson...for the Scotch!" LOL! Whatever!
I think Jameson is a very strong name, and it suits a young child as well as a grown man. And I love when you can incorporate family history into the name. I really love Easton Grant, as well. Also, very strong!

I like Easton James a lot. Jameson sounds too much like alcohol for some reason and Smith is so common, if it's a first or middle name it makes me think of "Smithy" some old man with a cob pipe and a ripped up hat, barefoot, in the hills. But Easton is original and could be cute when he is little and sophisticated when he gets older, sounds like the name of a movie star or a famous cowboy or something romantic like that.

I think Jameson is a great name. It is unique but creative, masculine and strong.
Maybe you should wait until you meet him before making your final choice? My mom picked out some horrid hippie name for me, "Skye Rainbow" (I'm not kidding either!), but when I was born my dad looked at me and said I looked like an Angel. thanks to dad my name is A..

I like the name Easton James i think it is so cute goood luck deciding it is hard to make the final decision.

I thought for sure my second child would be a girl and had a name picked out for "her" the same weekend I got pregnant (I knew right away). When the ultrasound showed otherwise, I had already been calling him by the girl name for 4 months and had to really get used to the thought of having a boy. As easy as it was to come up with a girl name for him, I couldn't for the life of me decide on a boy name that I liked. My oldest is Kathryn Breanne - goes by Katie - and I wanted to name the second Kyla Brynne to keep the same initials, but I couldn't find a K.B. combination for a boy that I liked enough so I had to let go of that idea. Every month closer to my due date I would settle on a different name, but nothing really fit. Then a co-worker suggested I name the baby after someone I admired. There's no one I admire more than my father, so I decided to give my son my fathers' middle name, and for his middle name I gave him his other grandfathers' middle name. He ended up Charles Dean - we call him Charlie and it fits him perfectly. And they ended up matching in a roundabout way after all - they are my Lady Kathryn and Prince Charles! :) I actually even found a set of boy/girl twin collector dolls named Katie and Charlie, which I thought was way cool!
Anyway, some people wait til the baby is born to name them, but I named both of mine before their births. I think when you find the right name for your son, it will just 'feel' right, whether you decide before he's born or after. :) Good luck and congratulations!

Hi! Just 2 cents - 'Smith' is Samantha's boyfriend in 'Sex and the City' (movie and last few seasons) and that is the only place I have ever heard it as a first name. Not a big deal - just not sure if you knew that! I personally like Grant the best for a first name even though it was not one of your options ;) Have fun!

I really like the name Easton James - it's a good name that can fit someone from childhood through old age, and as someone else mentioned, he can go by E.J. later if he so chooses.

I don't like Smith as a first name (if that's what you meant)... I think he would run into a lot of problems with people putting it in the Last Name field at school, at work, on car titles, home loans, etc.

If you meant Easton Smith, his initials would be ESP, which would be fun :) But Easton Smith doesn't roll off the tongue quite as well as Easton James.

Again, I totally love Easton James!

J., it looks like you really like the "James" sound since you have it in both options. (Could this have something to do with your own name?? lol) I like all the options, however; I think Easton James gives you more. Oh, hey, what about Grant Jameson?

I have found the best thing is to STAY OPEN!!! Try not to put the name in stone.

Sit quietly thinking about your baby and ask him WHO HE IS and go with the first thing you sense--even if you don't like it you can let it settle in and then work with it.
(I hate the name Ashley--sorry to all Ashley's, I don't know what my problem is--BUT I love the name Ashlynn and so named my 6 year old Ashlynn) With my youngest baby, I prayed and asked to know who my baby was, the name Elisabeth came to mind. So we were going to name her Elisabeth. (I can't even remember what the middle name was going to be) Then my father-in-law died of cancer at home with us all there, within moments of his passing Michaela came into my mind (I'm sure my FIL, Michael had something to do with that) and I asked my husband if he liked that name. We now have a beautiful two year old Mykayela Elysabeth who carries a name honoring her grandfather and great-grandmother (Michael's Mother who died just a few weeks prior to him).

Some people wait until the baby is born and then after seeing the baby, or living with baby for a few days choose a name that suits the baby they know rather than the baby they expect.

I like Jameson Grant the best in general, but it is longer and as others pointed out, very similar to yours, which could get confusing later on (who is being called, etc.) So, if you have a nickname to use with Jameson, like Sonny, that's a little different from your name, and you're happy using it, that yould be my suggestion. However, if you dislike nicknames, then I would say it's better to go with Easton James. Either way, you've picked some great names to choose from!

Was Smith a first name? I would suggest not naming your child Smith, because it's so "out there" it will reflect poorly on you. (People will think of you as flaky and attention-getting at the expense of your child.) If I misunderstood, and it's a middle name, I'm sorry.

Have you done any research on what the names mean?? That may help as well! I love having some sort of family connection with a name as well. One of my sons has his dad's middle name and the other has his grandfather's middle name and my daughter has my middle name IN her first name. Follow your heart and congratulations!

i like Easton Smith. It sounds cool.

With my second we had 4 names picked out and couldn't decide. Each night as I went to bed I wondered what the baby wanted his name to be. Two weeks before I had him I had a dream that I'd just given birth to him, as the doctor held him someone said, "It's Max!" which was one of my choices (and not my top choice) - so that's what we went with. He's 16 now and it fits him well.

As we were planning to get pregnant with my 4th I wanted a girl and I wanted to name her Zophia. About four months into the pregnancy that name wasn't fitting so I started looking at the books. There were a lot that I liked but none that really fit. Again I started wondering what the baby wanted her name to be and eventually her name came to me - which wasn't in any of the books I had. Then I couldn't decide on a middle name. I had about 5 picked out. The night I started labor my husband had woken up at about 2am with the name Isabel running through his head... so that became her middle name.

I like Jameson. We have a girl cousin named Easton so I automatically assume Easton is a girl's name (even if its not!).

Jameson is nice since it's similar to your name, but I prefer Easton because it is unique-ish but not modern and it has personality. My friend's son is Easton and it's cute. I think Smith would be great, but it depends on whether or not your last name is generic or if it's more unique for me to like how it sounds. My son's middle name is James, and we love it. Congrats!

We just had a beautiful baby boy 6 weeks ago and were in the same boat as you. We had three names picked out and couldn't decide. What we ended up doing was waiting until he was born and seeing how it fit him. Also, look at how the names will be shortened and what nicknames would be. With Easton, his nickname may be East (which is kind of cool if you ask me) but also with middle name James he could go by E.J. Easton James is my vote... it is very unique. Good luck!

I love the name Easton I would use it if I ever have a boy, but my sister-in-law already claimed it. So anyway, my vote would be for Easton James.

i like Jameson and Easton, with any of the others as a middle name. but i would hold onto them all and just see what the baby looks like. we ended up going with our second choice name with one of our sons because he didn't look like the first choice name to us at all. now that he is almost 3, his look doesn't necessarily match either of those names, but at least his look doesn't clash with the name we gave him. we still feel that the first choice name wouldn't have been fitting.

I was just wondering if James is a family name or if it's just one you both really like? I'm asking this because with my three children I chose family names and mixed the letters around to come up with different forms of the names. For example my husbands grandmother's name was Margret so we gave our daughter Megan as her first name and my grandma's name was Ruth Marie so we came up with Harmaonie for her middle name. We added a couple of letters but every time we say her name it's a reminder of who she is named after. I did the same thing with my other two children. My middle daughter is named after my dad and my son is a combination of my name and his fathers. I just wanted to share my idea with you. Congratulations and I wish you all the best.

We picked my first daughter's name several months before she was born, and it took me over a year before I felt like we picked the right name - even then, I wasn't really sure; I just felt like she grew into her name. When my second was born, we didn't pick a name until we saw her, and it was SO perfect. I just looked at her the next morning and thought, "She looks like a Rachel." My husband (who ALWAYS argues about names) said "Yeah! That's perfect." So, I would definitely wait until you see your son and then pick out his name.

Here is one general tip I have: it's really popular to pick a common name and give it a funky spelling, but as someone who always had to spell her last name ever single time, I would recommend you steer away from any oddly spelled names. Trust me, it's not unique, it's just annoying!
