Baby Making an "Ooooo" Face????

My one month old daughter makes a face where her lips are in a complete circle...as if to say "Ooooo" but no sound...and she looks like she's concentraiting on something...but usually nothing is in her view that I would think would make her think that hard. Has this happened to your baby? Why does she do this all the time?

P.S. She's been doing this since birth!

What can I do next?

My son did that, too. That's the face he made in the hospital photo. It's super cute!

She's just playing with her mouth. Keep watching, because she'll start making more faces. Have fun, and congrats!

If you make that face the baby will copy you and it's very cute. Most babies do the 'O' thing. They love to be talked to and they listen and do that '0' thing a lot when listening.

In tiny babies that's typically related to wanting to nurse. Does she do it all the time, or do you notice that it's a half hour or so before she cries to eat? When she does it, will she nurse? Responding to those sweet little cues can avoid having a overly hungry crying baby some time later.

Cingrats on your new baby girl! :)
All 4 of my babies did that and it's s-O cute! I was never able to connect it to a need or want though so I made a game of it and enjoyed it while it lasted. :) Best wishes.

my now 5 yr old did that when she was tiny - it was her earliest warning of getting hungry...took it as my cue to whip out the boobie....if i waited too long, the crying would start! We thought it was cute too, and called it the oooooo face, too!

Take photos of it!

Yes babies make all kinds of faces. Verbal or not.
Its cute.

As an infant, my son, furrowed his brows whenever he was thinking. He came out of the womb that way. He did that for about his first 6 months after being born. It was cute. I took lots of photos of him then as well.

Your question brought a smile to my face as I can remember my oldest daughter now 5 doing this all the time. I don't know that it means anything except they are taking everything in and learning about movement. I have so many pictures of her doing this, I thought it was such a cute expression.

My son did the same thing!! Since birth as well!! It was so adorable. He was really in full concentration mode. I don't know why he did it, but I made sure to take lots of pictures because he was so cute. Who knows -- maybe babies can see something we can't??? ;o)
