Baby Gift for 8Th Child

Hi Moms,

I'm wondering if any of you with large families can help me. A friend of mine just had her 8th child (yes, she is completely amazing). Her children range from 19 down to this newborn, so it's quite a spread. We've been friends for many years, so I've gotten her lots of baby gifts before; usually just something for the baby (a blanket or outfits) and a small gift for everyone else (like a gift card to rent movies). This is her 6th girl, though, so while I think it's always nice to have something special for a new baby, I'm wondering if she really needs another outfit. Any suggestions for something she can really use? They live in Missouri, so I can't just stop by and help out, which I'd love to do.

What can I do next?

Hi K., Why not a gift card to Wal*Mart, Target, Kmart, or her favorite book store so that she can buy what she needs when she needs it? I know it sounds impersonal, but I have a friend with 12 children and that's what I have been giving her and she really appreciates them. Best wishes.

What about a gift card to WalMart or somewhere? That way she can get whatever she &/or the whole family would need/want?

We like to give a share of stock. This might not be the best idea with the way the stock market is right now, but they can hopefully sit on it for a very long time, and it's a great learning tool as well. We usually give a share of Disney Stock and the parents can always add to it, and as the child gets older they can learn to follow the stock to see how it's doing. Go to www.oneshare.com, to view all the stocks you can purchase one share of.

How about a gift card to get the baby pictures done? Or you can find online a personal letter that has the baby name, date of birth, meaning of name, how much things cost that day ex. house, car, gas, stamps, and it will have what has happened that year and who else celebrates her bday. I got one for my son so he will have it to see how much has changed since he was born. they also have story books you can find at www.aspecialyou.com which is really cool as well. hope this helps

That's a good question. How to you get something for someone who already has everything? Since you can't go there to help out? Maybe you can send her a gift certificate for a spa in her area. She could take the day for herself (I'm sure she doesn't get many)and just relax. Or, maybe you can find some place that could cater a meal for her large family? Just trying to think of what she might appreciate.

The 8th child may get a lot of hand me downs.... so maybe something that is a keepsake and personalized with her name, like a blanket with her name embroidered on it. YOu can get those on line. Good luck!

I'm expecting my fifth. You are such a nice friend to buy her a gift. No one has bothered much with my subsequent babies but they are all boys so I think they figure I have everything. They are mostly right.

I was thinking that if my family asked what I needed what would I tell them. I think I would ask for a gift card to a website or store so I could get something I've always wanted for my other babies but couldn't afford to get.

I would ask her if there's anything she has her eye on and what store she would get it from so you can send her a gift card towards it.

gift cards so they can be used for diapers, formula or whatever she wants to use them for.
