Baby Gate - Cumming,GA
Hi; I am looking for a Baby Gate for the top of the stairs that has no walls -- there are only iron ballisters!
There are two decorative posts, however, they are curvy & without attaching a piece of wood (which
will not be very attractive) to each there is no way to for the gate to stand at the top of the stairs. With
two small children, we must solve this issue ASAP.
Thank You;
B.

Hi B.,
Who cares about attractiveness when it comes to the safety of children? Do what is necessary. I'd attach a gate with chains and a padlock to be sure it isn't removed. Maybe get a carpenter to make something.
Good luck,
MD

we attached wood to the posts with plastic zip ties- secure and a lot cheaper than the banister kits they sell that are basically the same thing. we had also considered using a gate in the hallway to block all the rooms from the stairs without actually putting a gate on the stairs. good luck.

Soccer Net. Install d-rings on the riser of the last stair to keep them from slipping out the bottom. The sides attach to the posts, and stay "up" by clipping them to the top part of the post, OR you can have clips in the posts as well.
OR
Dog Gate. They're sturdier, bigger, nicer looking, and usually less expensive than baby gates.

We just love our Retract-a-Gates and use them on all of our stairs. You may have to use the wood pieces on the install like we did, which is not the most attractive but we have sacrificed that for safety for now. Plus, since the gate retracts you will see less of it than most gates, which does improve the look. They may offer other installation kits for your type of stairs.
I actually wrote about it on my blog as a product that I love. You can check it out and see a few pics, too. Best of luck!
