I started my twin girls at 6 months. I went and bought a food processer and made my baby food myself. I did a search and found loads of receipes.....it was easy....and I had control of what went into their bodies.

I wouldn't start until she is at least 16 weeks. Slowly let her body adjust to the changes in diet. Good luck

I started at about 6 months old.

not until she's about 6 months I think.

How quickly I have fogotten.

Hey!

My sister had to add cereal to her son's bottle of formula when he was a baby (doc. orders too) b/c he spit up so much - he had reflux I think - and colic too. She wasn't crazy about putting cereal in his bottle but b/c he spit up so much it seemed to help him & she was all for helping him, of course. They ended up switching him to alimentum formula b/c he was allergic to the milk.

She didn't start him on any kind of other solid food, like baby food in the jars, until he was 6 months old - eventhough he continued to have cereal in his bottle until he was weaned.

So, my suggestion is to keep doing what your doc. suggests ... but don't start any other food until she's 6 months (or ready). I remember with my 1st baby I was so excited to do all the "firsts" that come with a new baby but I'd hold off on baby food until she's ready -- Their little systems just aren't ready for the stress of solid food until then. And remember to enjoy the time you have now when all you have to be concerned with is feeding her from the bottle -- she'll be on more mature food the rest of her life. Enjoy the simple things now. :)

Oh yeah & like someone else mentioned - I've heard of alot of success stories of babies going to the chiropractor for things such as colic & reflux. I went to the chiropractor all during my pregnancy & my baby girl has been several times since she was 3 weeks old. (her adjustment helped her digestive system)

Hope all goes well for you and her little one. Have a great day!! :)

I think it's generally 4-6 months...but our doctor said that they don't NEED it until 6-7 months. They should get all of their nutrients from the milk. When you are starting them at 4 months or so you are just preparing them and helping them practice the new technique. Personally, I am waiting until closer to the 6 month mark for our daughter. I have tried the cereal for her but she doesn't care for it and gets frustrated with it.

when she can swallow it with out the thrust reflex kicking in. the thrust reflex is the natural reflex infants have to push their tounges out (which pushes any object such as food out). this can happen as early as 3-4 months.

We too waited until about six months... and started on mashed up banana... just mush it up before you open the peel... and you can feed her straight from the peel. :)

Good luck!

i've always heard 6 months, but I started my oldest at about 4 1/2 months, and my middle at 6 mo or so. go with what your pediatrician says, especially since he/she has her on cereal already.
