Hello S.:

I love the baby einstein things... I haven't tried the videos yet because my son isn't old enough for them and honestly just doesn't sit still long enough... But i have the cds that i played for him from the time i was 4 or 5 months pregnant until now... We have certain cds for sleepy times and play times (because we would be lost without a schedule)... I don't have a lot of the other products but the ones that i do have we love!!!! They are simple and not too overwhelming like some toys can be for an infant. If you are looking at educational type toys like these i also recommend the baby leap frog products and the developmental toys (like the black reds and whites) for when he/she is young b/c for a while babies can't really see the colors well and the black red and white stimulates them.

Hope this helps a little :) Have fun!!

J.

I think they are wonderful i am dead set against tv for my child but when i have to get some things done i dont feel bad about putting her in front of the tv for 20min or so. Shes 8 months and cracks up every time the puppets come on the screen, i love to just watch her watch it.

I too am pregnant with my first baby at 37 weeks. I am an NPR fan and love to download programs onto my iPod for walks. One show that I listened to on a Boston program, "On Point" had to do with these products (Baby Einstein) and I would recommend you take a listen.

Another great site to find podcasts on parenting is:
http://www.parentsjournal.com/
Here you will find all sorts of great information that will last you until you say goodbye to your "baby" when he/she goes away to college.

I had put in a request for Baby Gear about a month ago and am pretty sure it is still on the site. Mommies poured in information!

Two products I am particularly fond of, however, are the Maya sling and a kangaroo wrap gown. These two items are part of the kangaroo care or attachment parenting philosophies where skin to skin contact is especially important.

You can find Maya slings on E Bay and the kangaroo wrap gown (they have shirts too) can be found at www.preciousimagecreations.com.

Anyway S., it's a very exciting time and this site is a fabulous resource for us soon to be mammas, that is for sure!

Best to you and your fam!

Hello,

I think the all of the baby einstein products are great.
my daughter loved the videos. the visuals and music are wonderful. she loves listening to music and singing. and she loves learning.
I would definately recommend them. its not about them watching too much tv. You can put it on and sit and interact with your baby or if you need 20-30 minutes it will definately be very stimulating thing to keep your baby entertained.
They even have so many more things now; flash cards(which are great) and lots of different toys.

I wish you the best of luck with your 1st born and remember to always follow your motherly insticts; no matter what anyone thinks.

A little about me:

33, married 7 years, my daughter just turned 5 and we are trying for our 2nd child.

I definitely recommend Baby Einstein. My daughter started watching them when she was 2 months old. I love how they catagorize each DVD for the appropriate age, and if you sit and watch it you will find that they teach your daughter/son while they are fascinated by the colors and motions.
I would rate them as an A. My daughter also enjoyed the baby einstein play gym. Their products all seem to be fun yet educational.

Baby einstein is awesome. Babies love the colors and the music. And as bad as it sounds, you will need a "break" every once and awhile. It is not like putting them in front of the tube to watch scooby doo. My son also has the Baby einstein exerscauser. He is begining to sit up and loves it! The first time he was in it he was in there for 3 hours. We would go to take him out and he would pitch a fit.

If you have cable or satilite GET BABY FIRST CHANNAL, it is GREAT. I have it for my kids and they love it. It teaches development, numbers, Alphabet and everything. It is better then einstein movies and shows. Other wise the einstein toys are ok but there are other toys out there that are just the same but cheeper. Walmart and Target have a good selection.

Hi! I actually love the baby einstein products. I had my first baby on 8/03/06 and my best friend gave me a baby einstein cd at my baby shower. All of the books say that listening to classical music with your baby is a great developmental tool, so I have been. We usually listen in the morning because the cd that I have (baby Mozart) is "upbeat." It is a great way to start the day for both of us. My son and I dance around the room and/or I let the music play while I change his diaper and rock with him in the morning. My best friend babysits for 2 children whom she says are captivated by the dvd's. If ever she needs them to sit still for a little bit, she puts on a baby einstein dvd. I hope this helps you make your decision.

I like the baby einstein video's. I have a 4 month old and due to her gas problems needs to sit up (with help) for approx. 30 min after she eats. What I do is put one of the video's in and when it's done all of the gas is out. By the way, I purchased 21 new different baby einstein video's on ebay for $65. This is MUCH less than the standard price of $15 ea. Be careful about the dealer you choose though, I read that some of them will send you video's that cannot be played in English but I did not have that problem.
