Oh my gosh! There are so many more baby carriers on the market than there was three years ago! I have the Infantino SlingRider, which I'll use, but I now want one that gives me complete hands-free use for grocery shopping, etc. What do you all recommend? Baby Balboa, Moby Wrap, Peanut Shell, Hotsling? Thanks so much.

What can I do next?

I love my baby bjorn. I tried on 4 other types, and decided to just stick with what I already loved. I really thought I'd like the moby wrap, but it just seemed like a lot of material.

There is this wonderful lady in Ann Arbor who will come to your house with a TON of carriers and let you try them all on and she is even a certified babywearing instructor. I just meet with her and she was here for an hour for only $15.

The best part is she doesn't sell any carriers so it's not like she is trying to push her product. Her website is www.closeathandbaby.com

I like my Baby Bjorn carrier for grocery shopping. I like the slings for when I'm visiting friends and my baby wants to be held, or it's more convenient for me to hold him. The carrier is easier on my back, though, and easier to shop in.

Have fun and congrats on baby #2!

I have a Moby Wrap, as well as the Snugli, Baby Bjorn, and Jeep carrier. I was using all of them, but recently read something that really concerned me. Apparently the Snugli, Baby Bjorn, Jeep carrier, and others like them aren't ergonomically correct and if you're going to use it regularly, I would go with the Moby Wrap or a soft carrier (Mei Tei? Ergobaby?) that is ergonomically correct so you don't mess up your kid's legs. I guess the fabric is supposed to come to just behind their knees and they're always supposed to have their legs bent around you at a 90 degree angle, not dangling by the crotch with their legs mostly straight (which is even worse if it's a boy, because all their weight is on their testes).

Also, the thing I read said to never carry them in front of you facing outward, because as you're walking, it's pushing their little legs and putting pressure on their knees in the wrong direction (hyperflexing them or whatever you call it).

I looked at the Ergobaby at Buy Buy Baby yesterday and I liked how the fabric came to the knees and kept his legs bent, but it didn't seem to me like I'd be able to reach the clip in the back very easily to get him in and out of it by myself. I guess people manage, though.

I like the Moby wrap. I tried a snuggli, but I didn't find it very comfortable. I've always been large chested, and since I'm breastfeeding I'm even bigger. I needed something that wouldn't squish me and allowed me to carry the weight of the baby across my back and hips rather than my neck and shoulders. I bought the Moby primarily to use on a cross country train trip this summer, and it worked great. I had my hands free to deal with luggage a tickets and my son was cozy and comfy. He actually fell asleep while we were getting out of the cab and getting our luggage into the terminal in Chicago!

I loved the Hotsling for when my daughter was under 6 months but once she got too heavy and it hurt my back we moved on to the Ergo! She loves to ride on my back at the grocery store, walking the dog, vacuuming the house, etc...

I use both a Ring Sling and a Mei Tei. I love wearing my babies! You should check out http://www.adventuresinbabywearing.com/ This woman is a baby wearing mother of four. She is hosting a baby wearing trial and may have some helpful thoughts!

Moby Wrap is the best, hands down! it's super versatile, soft, and super functional. I don't know where you live but here in Traverse City there's a group called the Bay Area Baby Wearers and they meet once a month and help out with this decision by having several different styles to try and see which works best for you. good luck!

I liked having more than one type....
For me
--the style where she is laying down worked best for -nursing, etc in a restaurant or on a plane.....
--the mei tei style I liked best for taking walks and going to the grocery store
--something like the bjorn where she was facing forward my husband liked best....

I have a Peanut Shell and love it! It is easy to get baby in and out. And she is very comfy in there - she falls right asleep;)
My sister bought it for me. She got it on sale at WalMart, but even when it wasn't on sale, it was cheaper than at Babies R Us. Not sure where else carries the product.
I have three kids, and it is sooo convienent to have two hands when baby is in the carrier;) I have three other kind of carriers that were just too hard to use "quickly". The peanut shell is easy to throw in the diaper bag and pull it out when I am grocery shopping or cooking dinner.
Good luck!

I like my Hotsling. They come in difeerent sizes. I like the bigger ones for when they are younger. The smaller work when they are older as a hip assit.
Pouch slings also fold nicely in your purse or bag you never know when they just won't want to be in their car carrier!!
