Well Eugene is traditional - old fashioned name.. so maybe something cool with that.. but watch out.. as I see you last name begins with a G... so watch what is spells.. like eg with a p in front would be peg.. or m = meg... l = leg.. Watch out because kids can be cruel... I like Jackson you can call him Jacks for short... Jackson Eugene or Justin Eugene .. I happen to like J. names.. good luck

How about using one of your or your husband's grandfather's names?

Not sure what you mean by "trendy", but seriously, I have found that some babies 'name themselves'. it doesn't matter what name you pick ahead of time, when you see the baby, you may think "He doesn't look like a (Matthew, Nickolas, etc) at all! "

Otherwise, put the names in a hat and have your other son pull out a name, whatever gets pulled out... that's the name! LOL

I love Avery and Asher.

My son's name is Avi, and I've gotten a bunch of compliments! (It's short for Abraham.) We also considered Ari, which is cool too.

Go onto the SS website, do a search for baby names it'll give you the ranks of baby names for the past year. You can do searches by year, how popular (top 10, 20, 50 etc) or by name to see how popular it is.

My theory on baby names is this: you do the hard labor, you get final say over the name! LOL - it sounds pedantic, but I don't think it's unreasonable.

You know, there are plenty of baby names that are traditional names but sound trendy - Jackson comes to mind immediately, as does Maxwell. Remind your husband that traditional names endure, and it's very trendy today to give a child a traditional name.

Keep in mind, too, that a traditional name can have a trendy nickname - Nico for Nicholas, Topher for Christopher, Eli for Elliot, etc.

My family goes for Irish names, my boys are Keaton and Rylin. Good luck!!

I agree with the person that said a traditional name can have a trendy nickname. It's hard to give name advice if we don't know your last name. My husband and I had the same problem. We ended up naming our now 6 month old Alexander-we call him alex- but you can call your child Lex (which I love), Zander, Alex or use the more traditional Alexander.
There are a lot of new books out there that go through all sorts of names giving their origin and popularity. Good luck!
