Hi Moms!

I am trying to catch up on my second daughter's (just turned three yesterday!) baby book while I am almost seven months pregnant with my third baby. Can anyone recommend the best way to adhere photos to the baby book? I bought double-sided acid free scotch tape, however, I also purchased a photo safe scrapbooking glue stick. Which would be better in the long run? Some photos I plan to stick directly onto the baby book paper while I am hoping to get quite creative with others and using a bit of scrapbooking paper as an embellishment. In my first daughter's baby book I used the double-sided tape which seems to be holding up pretty well, but was just wondering if the glue stick or another suggestion might be better. Thanks Moms for your input!

I"m impressed! As long as the tape is acid free, you should be fine. Glue sticks don't last long. I always find that stuff falls off after a while. Glue dots are also a good solution. I would go with the tape you have.

Have fun!

Are you looking for longevity of hold, safety of the photos, or ease of use? I prefer tape runners for my Scrapbooking. While I do if often and it is my regular hobby I have invested in a large atg gun. However if this is not your passion both hobby lobby and Michael's will have tape runners that will suit your needs. Glue sticks work fine but are messy. Double sided tape also will work well but is a little more time consuming. A tape runner is efficient without mess or fuss. Enjoy.

Look up a Creative Memories consultant near you. their tape runners are fantastic, and are of impeccable quality. Actually, their scrapbooks and papers are top-notch also - everything is made so it will not damage your beautiful photos long-term. When I was looking to start scrapbooks for my girls' baby books, I actually searched the local businesses here on Mamapedia and found my current scrapbook consultant, who is fantastic! She has helped me put together albums quickly, and they are beautiful!

Good luck!

Please go to Michaels or another scrapbook store and get archival quality tape for photos. It really does not cost a lot and in the long run you will be a lot happier (and so will your daughter when she looks at the book 40 years from now).

Happy Scraping!

I have heard to use acid-free and lignin-free (sp?), archival quality products on pictures. It maked them last longer and they won't yellow over the years. Try a scrapbook store in your area, or as mentioned Michael's, Hobby Lobby, or a Creative Memories consultant. (Creative Memories, in case you have not heard of it, is to scrapbooking as Pampered Chef is to kitchen tools/bakeware.)

I do alot of scrapbooking, and I don't use any other adhesive except Glue Dots! They are wonderful. I used to use glue sticks, tape, SBing glue, etc, but I've thrown all that out now. The best thing about Glue Dots is they come in regular size, mini, even pop up ones to make your photo stand up a little more on the paper! You can get 'em at Michaels or JoAnn fabrics...Sometimes even Wal-Mart or Target will carry them! Congratulations on your new baby :)

Use Glue Dots. They're photo safe, stick really well and are easy to use. You can find them at any craft store. Good luck and congrats on #3!

I think sometimes the glue distorts the pictures. I found out the hard way just about anything can damage the pictures beyond repair. My advice is to color copy them and use the copies in the photo albums and keep the real pics in a safe place.
